UK tourists Spain, have been warned over the consequences of ignoring a key traffic rule in Benidorm.<\/p>\n

Some travellers may be thinking regulations regarding the road only apply if you are planning to drive – but don’t be fooled – as pedestrians, you should still be watching your step.<\/p>\n

A travel expert has warned how violating the Spain’s Traffic and Road Safety Law zebra crossing rules, you could be severely out of pocket.<\/p>\n

Pedestrians must use designated walkways when crossing roads, to keep themselves and others safe.<\/p>\n

Failure to do this can result in a fine of around \u00a384 (\u20ac100), but that’s not all you can be charged with in the Spanish hotspot.<\/p>\n

Those who choose to use the crossing but decide to walk over the road before the green light is showing could be handed an even larger \u00a3167 (\u20ac200) “on the spot” punishment.<\/p>\n

Harry Tokky told viewers on social media how this rule, in his opinion is the “craziest thing you can get fined for.”<\/p>\n

He added: “We all know traffic lights, we all know crossing the road, but crossing the road on a red man here in Spain, well that’s a no-no.<\/p>\n

“Now, I didn’t believe it at first, but, yep they are fining you for it.”<\/p>\n

The TikToker, who goes by, @harrytokky, rounded off his video with a “warning” for anyone planning to go to Benidorm this year.<\/p>\n

He said: “Maybe avoid crossing the road on a red man, especially in front of a policeman, or you’re going to end up with a \u20ac200 fine.”<\/p>\n

Harry asked his viewers if they had ever been caught before, with a few chipping in to tell their tales.<\/p>\n

One said: “I did this loads when I was here a few weeks ago, didn’t even know about this luckily I wasn’t caught.”<\/p>\n

Another added: “We heard this and crossed only on green, but saw loads crossing on red.
