Christian Eriksen has thanked Manchester United fans for their support during his three years at the club.<\/p>\n
Former United manager Erik ten Hag signed Eriksen on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.<\/p>\n
Eriksen had just spent time with Brentford and he developed a strong relationship with Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes during his time at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n
The Denmark international was a key player in the first few months of his debut season, but he’s been in and out of the starting team for most of his time at the club and is leaving when his contract expires.<\/p>\n
Eriksen said goodbye to Old Trafford<\/a> on the final day of the Premier League<\/a> season and he did not travel to Asia for the post-season friendlies in Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong.<\/p>\n On Friday, he released a statement to thank United supporters, writing: “A huge thank you to all the fans who has supported me through the last three years as a Manchester United<\/a> player.<\/p>\n “Thank you to all the kind and hardworking people at the club who have made me and my family feel so welcomed since day one. And a big thank you to my teammates, it\u2019s been a pleasure sharing the changing room and pitch together!<\/p>\n “It\u2019s been an amazing time and I\u2019ve made some incredible memories that I will keep forever.<\/p>\n “Thank you, Christian.”<\/p>\n Eriksen’s agent, Martin Schoots, provided an update to BT<\/a> on his next move, saying: “Christian is still ambitious and has a lot to give to a bigger league. I can easily see him playing in his home country in the future, but I think for now it will only be for the national team.”<\/p>\n Ajax, Anderlecht and Brentford have been linked with a move for Eriksen, who scored eight goals during his 107 appearances for United across all competitions.<\/p>\n Eriksen spoke to journalists<\/a> in the mixed zone after facing Aston Villa and claimed United were fortunate not to be relegated this season. \u201cI think unfortunately there\u2019s been a lot of lows this season with the games, and obviously the final was the missing piece. It\u2019s football,” said Eriksen.<\/p>\n \u201cFor me now, I think people are lucky that we are where we are, not relegated with the team with the season we\u2019ve had, so it is also a bit of luck you have to acknowledge. Next season it has to be better, and I\u2019m sure it will be. I\u2019m looking forward to watching it from the sides.\u201d<\/p>\n Eriksen also thanked United fans for their unwavering support throughout a difficult campaign. \u201cThere\u2019s been so many games this season where they [the supporters] could have caused a lot of chaos where we\u2019ve been disappointed with our football,” he said.<\/p>\n “But obviously the fans, I think to our surprise really, have supported us.
