Credit: Airbus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"drop-cap\">The Spanish Navy is set to take delivery of the first two NH90 tactical transport helicopters, designated as multi-role support transport (MSPT), from Airbus Helicopters.<\/p>\n<p>These helicopters, shipped from Airbus\u2019 Albacete facility, represent the first pair out of a contingent of seven \u2018navalised\u2019 NH90s that form part of the second tranche of Spain\u2019s comprehensive NH90 programme, encompassing a total of 23 aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>The NH90 MSPT variant is designed to meet the demanding requirements of the Spanish Navy. It features a reinforced landing gear, naval communication and navigation systems, and automatic folding mechanisms for the rotor blades and tail, which are vital for shipboard operations.<\/p>\n<p>These helicopters can transport up to 20 troops or a light vehicle and can perform single-pilot instrument flight rules operations in challenging conditions.<\/p>\n<p>With this delivery, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.naval-technology.com\/projects\/nh90-nfh-asw-helicopter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NH90<\/a> now serves in all branches of the Spanish military.<\/p>\n<p>Airbus Helicopters in Spain managing director Fernando Lombo said: \u201cThe delivery of the first NH90 MSPT helicopters is proof of the strong collaboration between the Directorate General of Armament and Material (DGAM), the Spanish Navy, and Airbus Helicopters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThanks to this excellent cooperation, we\u2019ve been able to conduct the training of Navy crews at our Albacete base, ensuring the helicopters can enter service at Rota Naval Base this summer, as planned for the Navy\u2019s operational readiness. All our teams remain fully mobilised to ensure a smooth entry into service.
