The British royal family is living complicated days. King Charles<\/a>\u00a0is very ill with cancer, with rumors that succession planning is already underway. Prince William\u00a0and\u00a0Kate Middleton are already preparing for the next stage and taking on added responsibilities. And then there\u2019s Prince Harry\u2019s most recent BBC interview, where he suggested he was looking for a reconciliation with his father. His relationship with Prince William\u00a0isn\u2019t any better. And on top of that, new intimate details about the family keep resurfacing.<\/p>\n

The latter is, perhaps, impossible to control. Being royalty is living in the spotlight, and that part is to be expected. But a new book<\/a> Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors written by royal biographer Tom Bower is, perhaps, shedding more light on some of the royal dynamics than we\u2019re usually used to. And one of the things Bower discussed in his new book is the reaction of Princess Diana\u2019s sisters to Meghan Markle, which reportedly wasn\u2019t what Prince Harry expected.<\/p>\n

\u201cHarry assumed that Diana\u2019s family and friends would see a similarity between Diana and his fianc\u00e9e. Both, he said, shared the same problems. He was so disappointed,\u201d the book claims. Despite Harry being convinced that Princess Diana would be \u201cover the moon\u201d at his choice of bride, her sisters, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Lady Jane Fellowes, reportedly did not agree. In fact, according to the book, they thought Meghan would not fit in.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one agreed that his vulnerable mother had anything in common with his girlfriend. More discomforting for him, they thought Meghan would not fit in with the Royal Family.\u201d<\/p>\n

This did not discourage Prince Harry, who would go on to marry Meghan. The couple now shares two children. Harry would go on to discuss what he saw as his wife\u2019s similarities to his late mother in a 2022 Netflix documentary, saying, \u201cSo much of what Meghan is and how she is, is so similar to my mum. She has the same compassion, the same empathy, the same confidence. She has this warmth about her.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bower\u2019s words come at a difficult time, as there have been reports that Prince William would strip Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of their titles<\/a>\u00a0as soon as he ascended to the throne. \u201cIt\u2019s no secret William wants Harry more\u00a0harshly dealt with<\/a>. He thinks he has betrayed the family from top to bottom, which is the ultimate Windsor crime. It wouldn\u2019t take much to provoke him to flex his muscles when he is king,\u201d a palace insider told\u00a0The Daily Beast<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As always with the royal family, that\u2019s not the end of the story. Recent reports have indicated Kate Middleton has been pushing for a reconciliation<\/a> between the brothers and that King Charles might be ready to meet with his son, with whom he is currently not on speaking terms. All of this comes after Harry\u2019s interview, which reportedly angered the family, but in which he made clear he wants a reconciliation. Whether that\u2019s in the cards or not, and whether this family can stop being fractured anytime soon, remains to be seen.<\/p>\n
