Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Friday said every university in the country will have\u00a0an \u2018Education to Employment Lounge\u2019 to upskill students for jobs. It would be run by industry bodies, but logistics would be provided by the central government,\u00a0the Minister explained.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a session of the CII Annual Business Summit 2025, Mandaviya compared the job opportunities created during the ten years of the Modi government with that of the Manmohan Singh-led UPA regime.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the last decade, 17 crore job opportunities opened in India. Earlier in the previous decade, 4.5 crore jobs were created,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

While the BJP-led NDA has been in power since 2014 till now, the UPA regime was from 2004 to 2014.<\/p>\n

The unemployment rate in the country is 3.2 per cent, around the same level in the developed world, the Minister remarked.<\/p>\n

He attributed the availability of employment to India becoming an investment destination.<\/p>\n

On the Education to Employment Lounge, he stated, \u201cI will run the platform in collaboration with the government, industry bodies and universities\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll youth will get job opportunities according to their qualification in this career lounge,\u201d he was hopeful.<\/p>\n

\u201cCluster-based\u201d<\/p>\n

At the under development \u201ccluster-based\u201d Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), skills relevant to the industry will be imparted to trainees, he said while reiterating CII and other industry bodies to develop the syllabus.<\/p>\n

The universities or other educational institutions, however, will train the youth and certify them, making them ready for jobs.<\/p>\n

Lauding the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS), Mandaviya expressed hope that 10 million youth will get job opportunities in \u201cdownstream companies\u201d in the next 5 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government has also set up \u2018National Career Service\u2019 (NCS) portal, which is a one stop destination for seeking job opportunity by workers,\u201d said the Minister.<\/p>\n
