An immersive reimagining of Romeo and Juliet is coming to Liverpool. This June, Backyard Cinema\u2019s production of Baz Luhrmann\u2019s 1996 cult classic returns to St. George\u2019s Hall,<\/a> Liverpool, for a week-long cinematic residency.<\/p>\n

Taking place from Monday, June 23, to Sunday, June 29, the event promises to be \u201catmospheric\u201d and more \u201cthan just a film screening\u201d.<\/a><\/p>\n

Audiences can expect to step into the grandeur of the Grade I-listed building and be transported into the heart of Verona via candlelit aisles and the soaring sound of a live choir.<\/a><\/p>\n

As the film unfolds, iconic tracks from the original soundtrack, such as \u201cYoung Hearts Run Free,\u201d \u201cEverybody\u2019s Free,\u201d \u201cKissing You,\u201d and \u201cWhen Doves Cry\u201d will be performed live, interspersed throughout the screening, creating a \u201cdeeply immersive, multisensory experience unlike anything else on the UK cinema scene\u201d.<\/p>\n

Backyard Cinema prides itself on spending the past decade redefining what it means to go to the movies. What started as a DIY project in a London garden has grown to events all over the country.<\/p>\n

With over half a million attendees to date, Backyard Cinema is where film, theatre, and music collide in dazzling harmony.<\/p>\n

Their production of Romeo + Juliet has toured extensively to sold-out audiences and glowing reviews, and its return to Liverpool marks a highly anticipated highlight of their 2025 UK tour.<\/p>\n

Backyard founder and CEO Dominic Davies said: \u201cI can\u2019t wait to return to Liverpool with Romeo+Juliet. The venue is such a perfect fit, and the audience’s reactions made last year’s sold-out screenings a really special experience.<\/p>\n

Backyard Cinema\u2019s Romeo + Juliet will be staged at St George\u2019s Hall from June 23rd to 29th, 2025. Evening performances will be nightly at 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Matinee shows will also take place on Saturday, June 28th, and Sunday, June 29th.<\/p>\n
