Russia<\/a> has banned dozens of memes depicting Vladimir Putin<\/a> as Adolf Hitler<\/a> because they supposedly \u2018encourage terrorist activities\u2019.<\/p>\n A regional court declared all images contained on 12 webpages \u2018prohibited for distribution\u2019. <\/p>\n They include 88 results from a search on a Russian image hosting site for the term \u2018Putler Kaput\u2019.<\/p>\n A slogan popular among anti-Putin activists, it literally means \u2018Putler Broken\u2019, deliberately merging the surnames of Putin and Hitler. <\/p>\n The memes include images of the Russian president with the Nazi leader\u2019s infamous mustache and fringe superimposed on his face. <\/p>\n \t\t \t\t The court also banned images searched on a similar site using the term \u2018kaput\u2019, only they include dozens of pictures that have nothing to do with Putin. <\/p>\n Most of them are stills or promotional images associated with the 2008 Russian spy comedy \u2018Hitler Goes Kaput!\u2019, in which a Soviet officer infiltrates the SS and kidnap Hitler and his mistress Eva Braun.<\/p>\n Other banned images include photos taken at anti-war protests in Russia, and graffiti on a wall in Paris showing a young girl waving a Ukrainian flag while trampling on miniature tanks.<\/p>\n The court also outlawed a painting of sunflowers growing out of an upturned Russian military helmet which has a bullet hole leaking blood from it. <\/p>\n \t\t Russian state prosecutors said the webpages were found during \u2018monitoring of the internet\u2019 required by counter-terror legislation.<\/p>\n According to the court\u2019s ruling, issued earlier this month, they said the images and inscriptions \u2018discredit the President of the Russian federation\u2019.<\/p>\n They argued the memes \u2018negatively affect the interests of society and the state\u2019 and \u2018encourage an indefinite number of persons to commit terrorist activities\u2019.<\/p>\n Judges at the Kirov District Court of Omsk, where the case was heard, said the prosecutors\u2019 claimed were all \u2018justified\u2019 and ruled in favour of the ban. <\/p>\n Get in touch with our news team by emailing us at webnews@metro.co.uk<\/a>.<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n For more stories like this, <\/strong>check our news page<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n Arrow Arrow![\"Website](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/SEI_253683951-8e41.jpg\")
