{"id":146319,"date":"2025-05-31T08:19:08","date_gmt":"2025-05-31T08:19:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/146319\/"},"modified":"2025-05-31T08:19:08","modified_gmt":"2025-05-31T08:19:08","slug":"germany-seeks-eu-deal-to-relocate-failed-asylum-seekers-to-third-countries-firstpost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/146319\/","title":{"rendered":"Germany seeks EU deal to relocate failed asylum seekers to third countries \u2013 Firstpost"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this month, the EU\u2019s executive Commission suggested a plan allowing member states to reject asylum claims from migrants who went through a \u201csafe\u201d third nation on their route to the EUread more<\/p>\n<p>Germany\u2019s interior minister is optimistic that the European Union can achieve an agreement on returning unsuccessful asylum applicants to safe nations near their original country.<\/p>\n<p>Chancellor Friedrich Merz\u2019s conservatives won the national election in February on a pledge to reduce immigration levels, which many people saw as out of control, despite the fact that numbers had been declining for more than a year.<\/p>\n<p>In a Saturday interview with the newspaper Welt am Sonntag, Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stated that the use of third nations could only be implemented if there was an agreement across Europe.<\/p>\n<p>STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need third countries that are prepared to take migrants who are objectively unable to return to their home countries,\u201d he told the newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, the EU\u2019s executive Commission suggested a plan allowing member states to reject asylum claims from migrants who went through a \u201csafe\u201d third nation on their route to the EU.
