Even as someone who has an ungodly amount of makeup and skincare already, nothing gets my heart racing quite like the words \u2018new Sephora store\u2019.<\/a> So when I found myself in Liverpool city centre with payday having arrived, and the shiny new Sephora calling like a beacon, the universe clearly aligned and frankly, it would have been rude not to do some spending.<\/p>\n

Having opened just four days earlier, the atmosphere was electric. Sephora\u2019s arrival in Liverpool is long overdue. Until now, the closest options were Manchester\u2019s Trafford Centre, Birmingham\u2019s Bullring, or Newcastle.<\/p>\n

Inside, there are dozens of brands neatly displayed – shelves lined with cult faves, viral TikTok sensations, and those previously hard-to-get-your-hands-on brands like Tower 28<\/a> and ONE\/SIZE<\/a>. Here\u2019s what I left with as a beauty writer, and a few products I\u2019m still thinking about.<\/p>\n

What I bought<\/strong><\/p>\n

I discovered Merit\u2019s Beauty Flush Balm Cream Blush<\/a> last month after I was invited to a makeup masterclass with the brand to celebrate their launch into Sephora, which is now the only retailer, save for the brand\u2019s own website,<\/a> that stocks them. I\u2019ve been using three of their lightweight cream blushes on repeat ever since, and was looking to add a fresh shade to my lineup.<\/p>\n

I love an orangey-red blush, with my go-to being Refy\u2019s Amber<\/a> (also available in Sephora<\/a>), so I tried a few of the testers on the back of my hand and settled on Persimmon, which is a gorgeous bricky hue. The formula is super beginner-friendly and impossible to mess up, <\/a>which is why I adore it so much. It effortlessly melts into the skin for a sheer flush of colour, leaving behind a gorgeously dewy finish. You can just swipe it on and blend it out with your fingers for a really quick and easy look, precisely why they\u2019ve become such a firm favourite in my kit.<\/p>\n

Shoppers are equally as impressed, with the Merit blush balms having earned a 4.61 rating out of five.<\/a> One customer said: \u201cLove it! The product texture blends easily resulting in a beautiful and natural effect on the skin. I chose the colour Postmodern to create a summerish look on my fair\/medium skin tone and I could not be happier.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI can’t believe I’ve lived this long without this blush,\u201d said another. \u201cIt is perfect. Doesn’t break me out, blends out like a dream, has the most beautiful and natural colour, and it actually lasts all day. I’ve replaced my Rare Beauty blush with this one based on performance and look! It’s absolutely stunning.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, some have found it\u2019s not as long-lasting as some liquid or powder products. One review read: \u201cI have been debating whether or not to purchase this blush. So, I chose Stockholm. I love the colour and ease of application. My only complaint is that it disappears after a couple of hours.\u201d<\/p>\n

I thought I\u2019d popped my Fenty Gloss Bomb<\/a> in my handbag in the morning, but alas, I hadn\u2019t so I was looking for a lip gloss or oil to top up my makeup with throughout the day when I spotted the GISOU Honey Infused Lip Oil.<\/a><\/p>\n

Enriched with Mirsalehi honey from Gisou\u2019s family-owned bee garden, hyaluronic acid, jojoba, and meadowfoam oils, it\u2019s a super nourishing, non-sticky lip oil <\/a>with a subtle tint, great for tossing in your bag for daytime glam or a glossy night-out pout. The packaging is equally as gorgeous, with a fun, wavy bottle design.<\/p>\n

The shade Glazed Plum<\/a> – a glossy nude shimmer – was the perfect topper for my MAC Velvet Teddy lipstick,<\/a> and I must say, it\u2019s an incredibly addictive product. I couldn\u2019t stop swiping it on my lips all day, and dare I say I actually preferred the oil to my usual Fenty gloss.<\/p>\n

ONE\/SIZE Mini On ‘Til Dawn Mattifying Waterproof Setting Spray \u2013 \u00a315<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019ll be honest – this was an impulse buy and I do have one minor regret\u2026 not getting the full size<\/a>. Exclusive to Sephora, ONE\/SIZE has often proven tricky to hunt down, especially seeing as it\u2019s often trending on social media. I spent a lot of time debating whether to buy the travel friendly version<\/a> of this setting spray to try it out for \u00a315, or just bite the bullet, buy the full size for \u00a330<\/a>, and hope I liked it as much as everyone else seems to.<\/p>\n

After using it for a couple of days, I am seriously sad that I didn\u2019t opt to size up because while the mattifying waterproof setting spray delivers on every promise, the mini mist isn\u2019t going to last all that long, which has seen me already be sparing in my application. Next time, I\u2019ll trust my gut.<\/p>\n

Perfect for hot summer days or all-day events when you want your makeup to last, it sets makeup in place for up to 16 hours<\/a>, using green tea extract and witch hazel to absorb oil and tighten pores. With an aerosol spray application that is light as air and non-sticky, it really is a makeup bag hero.<\/p>\n

Tower 28 is one of the latest brands to launch in Sephora, and one of their most popular products is their SOS Daily Rescue<\/a>. This spray is a dream for stressed-out skin, with the active ingredient – hypochlorous acid – gaining much attention on TikTok in recent months.<\/p>\n

Hypochlorous acid is anti-inflammatory and antibacterial, so helps calm the skin, support the skin barrier and keep flare-ups at bay. It\u2019s gentle, natural, and clinically proven to calm redness and irritation. It\u2019s also alcohol-free and safe to use all over the body. I\u2019ve heard glowing reviews and fully plan to go back for it, especially as it\u2019s great for blemishes, <\/a>sunburns, rashes, eczema and post-workout.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t need a new foundation just yet, but if I was going to buy one, it would without doubt be Haus Labs<\/a> and Sephora gave me the ideal opportunity to do some in-person shade matching, too. The skin-tech foundation is skincare-meets-makeup in the best way – made with fermented arnica, hyaluronic acid and over 20 active skincare ingredients, it promises buildable coverage without irritation.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s serum-like and luminous, with medium coverage but still a really lightweight feel on the skin. This very nearly made the cut and is very much on my beauty wishlist for when I run out of my Charlotte Tilbury Beautiful Skin Foundation.<\/a><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re a matte eyeshadow lover, this palette is the one. <\/a>With 12 skin-tone inspired shades, it\u2019s the ultimate palette to take you from subtle, everyday shadow to more intense, smoky glam. It swatched like velvet<\/a> in-store and I\u2019m still dreaming about it, but I need to cull some of my older, probably expired palettes first before I buy any more. At \u00a355, it\u2019s definitely a more considered investment, too, so I want to make sure I\u2019m certain about it first.<\/p>\n

But, it is safe to say that Liverpool ONE\u2019s Sephora is the place to go to restock old favourites or discover new obsessions. The clean layout of the store and curated selection makes it hard to walk away empty-handed, so if you\u2019re in Liverpool and haven\u2019t stopped by yet, consider this your sign.
