Nowhere is this more evident than Venice, which began <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/alexledsom\/2024\/11\/21\/venice-tourist-tax-entrance-fee-extended-for-2025\/\" target=\"_self\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/alexledsom\/2024\/11\/21\/venice-tourist-tax-entrance-fee-extended-for-2025\/\" data-ga-track=\"InternalLink:https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/alexledsom\/2024\/11\/21\/venice-tourist-tax-entrance-fee-extended-for-2025\/\" aria-label=\"charging day trippers\" rel=\"noopener\">charging day trippers<\/a> a fee to enter the city, ranging from \u20ac5 (about $5.65) if booked in advance to \u20ac10 (about $11.30) for last-minute arrivals. Take Paris. Starting this summer, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/ceciliarodriguez\/2024\/09\/09\/crackdown-on-cruises-greece-joins-european-countries-imposing-overtourism-restrictions\/\" target=\"_self\" class=\"color-link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/ceciliarodriguez\/2024\/09\/09\/crackdown-on-cruises-greece-joins-european-countries-imposing-overtourism-restrictions\/\" data-ga-track=\"InternalLink:https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/ceciliarodriguez\/2024\/09\/09\/crackdown-on-cruises-greece-joins-european-countries-imposing-overtourism-restrictions\/\" aria-label=\"cruise passengers\" rel=\"noopener\">cruise passengers<\/a> disembarking at Santorini or Mykonos between June and September will face a \u20ac20 (about $23) per-person fee. Drones are used to monitor compliance.
