Prince Harry holds meeting with uncle to change last name amid royal rift<\/p>\n
Prince Harry, who announced that he was open to reconcile with his estranged family, is willing to take drastic measures to end all ties to the royals.<\/p>\n
The Duke of Sussex\u2019s relationship with his cancer-stricken father, King Charles, worsened in the past couple of weeks after the \u201cdevastating\u201d verdict on his security appeal.<\/p>\n
However, Harry continues to have a good relation with his mother, Princess Diana\u2019s side of the family.<\/p>\n
Now sources have revealed that Harry reached out to his uncle, Charles Spencer, as he mulled over a shocking decision which will end all his connection to the royal family.<\/p>\n
King Charles\u2019s younger son had been exploring ways to take his mother\u2019s family name \u2018Spencer\u2019 and ditch \u2018Mountbatten-Windsor\u2019, a friend of Harry told\u00a0MailOnline. Harry\u2019s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, also use Mountbatten-Windsor as their last name.<\/p>\n
Harry discussed the matter with his uncle Charles Spencer during a rare visit to UK. However, he was advised against it and the legal hurdles were \u201cinsurmountable\u201d.<\/p>\n
The pal revealed, \u201cThey had a very amicable conversation and Spencer advised him against taking such a step.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex gave up their senior royal positions in 2020 when they left the Firm to settle in the US. While they still retain the HRH titles, which Harry has had since birth, but are not supposed to use them for commercial purposes.<\/p>\n
Princess Diana\u2019s brother seemed to have calmed the situation at the time as the move would have been deeply hurtful to King Charles, who reportedly cherishes the Mountbatten name just as his father did.<\/p>\n
