Brits motoring off to sunny Spain are being warned of eagle-eyed speed cameras that will nick you for going 1km\/h over the limit. Millions of UK holidaymakers flock to Spain each year, with a good chunk choosing to hire cars to zip around and soak in the sights.<\/p>\n

British drivers, however, might find their pockets rather lighter if caught speeding on Spanish roads, faced with fines starting at a steep \u20ac100 (\u00a384). Spain’s rolled out some snazzy new road tech that\u2019s ultra-sensitive and likely to catch anyone even slightly over the speed limit.<\/p>\n

Show Plates World said: “Spanish authorities are clearly stepping up speed enforcement, with technology that leaves little room for error.<\/p>\n

“Even slight speeding can trigger fines, which can catch drivers unfamiliar with the roads off guard.”<\/p>\n

It means Brit drivers unfamiliar with the terrain must be extra vigilant, especially as these flash new cameras have popped up along major routes and tourist favourites leading to coastal gems like Malaga, Alicante, and Barcelona, reports the Express<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sneakier still, hidden or mobile cameras could easily trip up an unsuspecting driver.<\/p>\n

To avoid the sting of a fine, Show Plates World is offering sage advice \u2013 stick rigidly to those speed limits and consider using GPS or apps that give you a heads-up on speed camera spots.<\/p>\n

Depending on how far you’ve gone over the limit, fines for speeding can cost you anything from \u20ac500 to \u20ac600 (\u00a3420-\u00a3503). Furthermore, as SpainLawyer.com points out, you can be ordered to pay police the fine on the spot.<\/p>\n
