Friday Fun: The SeatUnique ground in Bristol was packed on Friday night as Gloucestershire began the defence of their T20 title. The festival continues on Sunday with The Whale God, Below and Alligator at the Bristol Megascreen.<\/p>\n [Bristol Waste]<\/p>\n They’ve bin busy: There was a grand opening this week of Bristol Waste’s new \u00a35m Materials Recycling Facility in Avonmouth, which the company says will increase the city’s overall recycling capacity.<\/p>\n [Colin Moody]<\/p>\n Cheers: The Spirit of Bristol Gin cruise has been taking groups around the city centre waterways aboard the Tower Belle while they sample different spirits named after different parts of the city.<\/p>\n [John Hudson]<\/p>\n High praise: The Almondsbury Community Shop has been given the King’s Award for Voluntary Service<\/a> – the highest award given to volunteer groups in the UK and equivalent to an MBE. The village shop, entirely run by volunteers, received its award from Edward Gillespie OBE, Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire.<\/p>\n [Portishead Sea Shanty Festival]<\/p>\n Sailing on: The Portishead Sea Shanty Festival saw shanties aplenty played at venues across the town last weekend, all in aid of the RNLI and Children’s Hospice South West.<\/p>\n [BABS]<\/p>\n In harmony: Bristol’s reputation as a city of singing was strengthened when three barbershop choirs won national chorus trophies at the British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS) annual convention.
