The film, which earned solid reviews after its premiere and co-stars Julian McMahon, Nic Cassim, Miranda Tapsell, and Alexander Bertrand, was purchased by Lionsgate and is scheduled to release sometime in 2025.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n Friendship<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n Release Date:<\/strong> May 9, 2025 Andrew DeYoung\u2019s directorial debut is an offbeat \u2014 and if the trailer is anything to go by, somewhat sinister \u2014 comedy about a man (Tim Robinson) whose life is upended by the arrival of a new neighbor (Paul Rudd) who welcomes him into his circle and then decides to end their friendship. If you\u2019ve seen Tim Robinsons\u2019s sketch show I Think You Should Leave, then you get the vibe here.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n Final Destination Bloodlines<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n Release Date:<\/strong> May 16, 2025\u00a0 Final Destination: Bloodlines is being released just in time to celebrate the franchise\u2019s 25th anniversary. After working on Freaks and Kim Possible, directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B Stein are reuniting to helm this project. A sneak peek of Bloodlines features an accident that results in an untimely death of a tattoo artist, giving audiences an insight into what the movie is about.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n Lilo & Stitch<\/a> <\/strong> After languishing in various stages of development, it was announced in 2022 that\u00a0Marcel the Shell with Shoes On director Dean Fleischer-Camp would helm this live-action take on the animated musical about a Hawaiian orphan and her newfound best friend: an alien who crash-landed on the island. The film will be released with a cast that includes Kealoha as Lilo Pelekai and\u00a0Lilo & Stitch\u00a0creator Sanders as the voice of Stitch. Other cast members include Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Kaipot Dudoit, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere and Courtney B. Vance.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning<\/a> <\/strong> Tom Cruise is back in action as Ethan Hunt in what was originally supposed to be Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part Two (the official title hasn\u2019t yet been revealed). After Hunt retrieved both keys at the end of Dead Reckoning, the new film will focus on his mission to find the lost Sevastopol submarine while stopping the Entity, an AI program. Haley Atwell (Grace), Simon Pegg (Benji), Vanessa Kirby (Alanna), Ving Rhames (Luther), Pom Klementieff (Paris), and Esai Morales (Gabriel) are slated to return for the eighth installment in the franchise. New additions to the cast include Hannah Waddingham, Holt McCallany, Nick Offerman, Janet McTeer, and Lucy Tulugarjuk.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n Fear Street: Prom Queen<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n Release Date:<\/strong> May 23, 2025 Fear Street: The Prom Queen is set to premiere this year and, like the previous films, will be based on R.L Stine\u2019s series of the same name. Viewers will be transported back to 1988 Shadyside, a town perpetually haunted by strange happenings. Based on the timeline, it is plausible that several cameos could be made by the characters from the prequels.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n Karate Kid: Legends<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n Release Date:<\/b> May 30, 2025 The popular Netflix series Cobra Kai has helped keep the iconic \u201880s martial arts franchise alive and kicking in the popular consciousness, and in 2024 Sony will head back to the IP dojo with a new installment. Originally thought to be unconnected to the original films or the Netflix show, a casting call announcement revealed that Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan would star alongside each other in the new film as their characters Daniel LaRusso and Mr. Han. Few other details have been revealed, except that Ming-Na Wen, Ben Wang, and Joshua Jackson are among the co-stars.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n The Phoenician Scheme<\/a> Release Date:<\/strong> May 30, 2025 (Limited)\u00a0 Eight-time Oscar nominated director Wes Anderson is releasing a story about a father-daughter relationship that is further threatened by the trials and tribulations faced by their family business. Anderson\u2019s genius behind The Grand Budapest Hotel and Moonrise Kingdom promises an interesting film featuring a star-studded cast that includes Scarlett Johanson and Tom Hanks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n Bring Her Back<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n Release Date: <\/strong>May 30, 2025 A24\u2019s May release will be directed by Danny and Michael Philippou whose directorial debut Talk to Me was a great horror success. The film will star Academy Award nominee Sally Hawkins in a story that centers on a sibling duo as they uncover a dark secret in their new foster mother\u2019s home. The remaining details of the film have not been revealed but it is known that the film will also star Sora Wong and Jonah Wren Phillips.\u00a0<\/p>\n JUNE<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n Ballerina<\/a> <\/strong> The first spin-off film of the John Wick universe stars Ana de Armas as one of the female assassins trained by the Ruska Roma, the criminal organization headed by Anjelica Huston\u2019s \u201cDirector\u201d and glimpsed in John Wick: Chapter 3 \u2013 Parabellum. Details are thin so far, but we know it will be another revenge tale, and we know that it will be set specifically between the events of Chapter 3 and Chapter 4, so Keanu Reeves and his Continental cohort will also appear.<\/p>\n The Twits\u00a0(2025)<\/strong><\/p>\n Release Date:<\/strong> June 13, 2025\u00a0 An animated film adaptation inspired by Roald Dahl\u2019s 1980 children\u2019s novel of the same name, Netflix\u2019s The Twits follows two orphans on a mission to best Mr. and Mrs. Twit, a mean-spirited couple who play pranks on each other and commit crimes with their trained animals. \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n How to Train Your Dragon<\/a> <\/strong> Dean DeBlois, creator of the animated\u00a0How to Train Your Dragon trilogy, is bringing Hiccup, Astrid, Toothless, and friends to life in a live-action reimagining and Universal Pictures just dropped the trailer. The original film was a coming-of-age story that follows young Hiccup from childhood to adulthood, but the plot of the live-action adaptation will focus in on Hiccup\u2019s first meeting with Toothless, a friendly dragon he can\u2019t bear to kill, even if it means breaking tradition in his village of Berk, home of Vikings and dragon slayers.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n Elio<\/a> <\/strong> Announced in 2022, Pixar\u2019s 29th feature film (following 2024\u2019s Inside Out 2) will focus on an 11-year-old boy (named Elio, of course) who is inadvertently beamed up into space and is mistaken to be an ambassador for Earth on another planet. The film is directed by Madeline Sharafian (Burrow Sparkshort), Domee Shi (Bao short, Turning Red) and Adrian Molina (co-screenwriter\/co-director of Coco), and produced by Mary Alice Drumm (associate producer of Coco).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n 28 Years Later<\/a> <\/strong> After releasing one of the zombie genre\u2019s most iconic films in 28 Days Later and then handing the reins to Juan Carlos Fresnadillo for its sequel, 28 Weeks Later, Danny Boyle returns to the director\u2019s chair to direct the third film in the series. Boyle also co-wrote\u00a028 Years Later with original scribe Alex Garland \u2014 even more reason to get excited for this one \u2014 and has assembled a cast that includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, and Ralph Fiennes.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n M3GAN 2.0<\/a> <\/strong> Director Gerard Johnstone of M3GAN is slated to return behind the camera for the sci-fi horror film\u2019s sequel. Although plot details are still being kept under wraps, producer James Wan hinted that M3GAN 2.0 will pick up from the end of the first film and explore the consequences of what happens when AI robots connect to devices in people\u2019s homes. Allison Williams and Violet McGraw are confirmed to star as Gemma and Cady again.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n F1 The Movie<\/a> <\/strong> Warner Bros., Apple Original Films, and Dawn Apollo Entertainment, led by seven-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton, are revving up their engines to transport audiences into the world of F1 racing. The upcoming film features an all-star, hardware-heavy ensemble with the likes of Brad Pitt, Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, and Tobias Menzies. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for blockbusters like Tron: Legacy and Top Gun: Maverick, the picture follows Pitt as a former racer who is persuaded to come out of retirement to mentor a new driving prodigy (Idris). The film was shot during actual Grand Prix weekends and is being developed with input from the Formula 1 community and its race promoters.<\/p>\n JULY<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n Jurassic World Rebirth<\/a> <\/strong> The larger-than-life dinosaur phenomenon that is the Jurassic franchise is returning to screens with new life. Though uncovering any plot details has been about as difficult as unearthing dino fossils, the latest installment is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, and it features an all-star ensemble that includes Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey. Gareth Edwards of Godzilla (2014) directs, and David Koepp, who penned the original Jurassic Park, returns as a writer on the new film.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n Superman<\/a> <\/strong> DC Studios CEO James Gunn is directing, writing, and producing the latest reboot of Superman, bringing it into the new generation of a connected DC Cinematic Universe. The film will not be an origin story, but will focus on Lois Lane and Clark Kent. To the dismay of many Superman fans, Henry Cavill will not be returning to play the superhero \u2014 instead, David Corenswet will take on the role, playing a younger, more optimistic Superman to counter Cavill\u2019s grittier rendition.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n Smurfs<\/a> <\/strong> The Smurfs are returning to the big screen, this time in musical format. One of several Smurf-inspired feature films in development, this particular renewal of the blue creatures will star Rihanna as the voice of Smurfette. Rihanna is also a producer on the film and announced at CinemaCon 2023 that she will write and perform new original songs for the project. In April of 2024, a vast ensemble cast was announced, including Nick Offerman, Octavia Spencer, Kurt Russell, and more, before the release date was ultimately moved from Valentine\u2019s Day 2025 to a summer opening in July.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n I Know What You Did Last Summer<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n Release Date:<\/strong> July 18, 2025\u00a0 The I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot welcomes Julie James back to screens this summer and, like the original, follows friends who are being stalked following a traumatic event from their past. Actors Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prince Jr reunite on set after having starred in the original. The movie also includes newer stars such as Outer Bank\u2019s Madelyn Cline and The Summer I Turned Pretty\u2019s Lola Tung.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n The Fantastic Four: First Steps<\/a> <\/strong> The Fantastic Four are coming back for a third time, 20 years after the initial theatrical debut of Marvel\u2019s First Family and 10 years after the ill-fated reboot. This iteration joins the MCU as part of the Multiverse Saga, skipping the team\u2019s origin story and setting up future crossover events, potentially into the next Avengers movie. Not much else is known about the film, except the main cast: Pedro Pascal plays Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby plays Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn plays Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach plays Ben Grimm, while\u00a0WandaVision and\u00a0Monarch: Legacy of Monsters director Matt Shakman takes the helm.<\/p>\n AUGUST<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n The Bad Guys 2<\/a> <\/strong> Considering The Bad Guys (2022) saw huge commercial success at the box office and on streaming, it\u2019s no surprise that Dreamworks and Universal are doing a sequel. This time around, the Bad Guys grapple with crime-free life as Good Guys when they are confronted by an all-female squad of criminals who prompt them out of retirement for a final hurrah. Mr. Wolf (Sam Rockwell), Mr. Snake (Marc Maron), Mr. Shark (Craig Robinson), Mr. Piranha (Anthony Ramos), and Ms. Tarantula (Awkwafina) will all reprise their roles as the main cast with Pierre Perifel returning to direct and Damon Ramos producing.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n The Naked Gun<\/a> <\/strong>Release Date:<\/b> August 1, 2025 The Lonely Island\u2019s Akiva Schaffer brings back the bumbling detective Frank Drebin, originally played by Leslie Nielsen in the classic TV comedy\u00a0Police Squad! and a trio of\u00a0Naked Gun films from the late 1980s to mid-1990s. The man attempting to fill Nielsen\u2019s shoes in the role? This time around, he just wants some family time on vacation, but he can\u2019t help himself when he uncovers a conspiracy.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n Caught Stealing<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n Release Date:<\/strong> August 29, 2025\u00a0 Sony announced the release of Caught Stealing to replace the release of Insidious since the latter has been pushed back a year. Set in the 90s, the film is based on Charlie Huston\u2019s book series and follows Hank Tompson (Austin Butler), a former baseball player who is thrust into a world of crime in New York City. Zo\u00eb Kravitz and Bad Bunny star alongside Butler in this film.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n The Toxic Avenger<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n Release Date:<\/b> August 29, 2025 Peter Dinklage stars in this reboot of the classic dark superhero comedy as a lowly janitor who falls into a vat of toxic waste that transforms him into a disfigured mutant and decides to use his powers for good. The film premiered way back in 2023 at Fantastic Fest, but is finally getting a proper theatrical release sometime in 2025.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n The Roses<\/a> <\/strong> The Roses\u00a0is a dark comedy centered around a seemingly perfect couple, Ivy (Colman) and Theo (Cumberbatch), whose relationship is more tenuous than previously imagined due to their contrasting aspirations which lead their careers in two startling different directions. This is the third feature film from director Kogonada (Columbus, After Yang, Pachinko).<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n Ella McCay<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n Release Date: <\/strong>September 19, 2025\u00a0 Ella McCay will bring viewers to Rhode Island in this James Brooks film starring Jamie Lee Curtis, Emma Mackey, and Woody Harrelson. This comedy centers on a politician who becomes the Ocean State\u2019s next governor and has to balance her new job and personal life.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n One Battle After Another<\/a> <\/strong><\/b> Directed, written, and produced by Paul Thomas Anderson, One Battle after Another will be his 10th narrative feature and the first to be released in IMAX. The film, which is his most expensive film to date, is reportedly a modern update of the Thomas Pynchon novel Vineland. Not much else is known besides its all-star cast.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n The Strangers: Chapter 2<\/strong> (2025)<\/b><\/p>\n Release Date:<\/b> September 26, 2025 When The Strangers: Chapter 1 was filmed, two sequels were also filmed concurrently to complete a new standalone trilogy. While Lionsgate originally intended to release Saw XI in 2025, they\u2019ve opted instead to bring us the second installment of the new Strangers franchise, which sees the return of Madelaine Petchs\u2019s Maya.<\/p>\n OCTOBER<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \n Michael<\/a> <\/strong><\/p>\n Release Date:<\/b> October 3, 2025 Take out your red leather jackets and sequin-covered gloves and prepare to moonwalk into theaters and witness Antoine Fuqua\u2019s Michael. Detailing the life of the man, myth, and music legend Michael Jackson (Jaafar Jackson), this biopic invites viewers to witness the personal woes that came along with the global success of the late hitmaker.
