A crossbow was fired at a Kirkby house in what police believe was a “targeted attack”. Detectives are appealing for information following incident, which took place this morning, June 1.<\/p>\n
A Merseyside Police spokesman said: “We are appealing for information after reports a crossbow was fired at a house in Kirkby<\/a> on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n “A report was received shortly after 9am to a report the front door and a window of an address on Madryn Avenue had been struck with arrows from the weapon.<\/p>\n “It was reported the male offender, whose face was covered, was seen to ride away on a bicycle and extensive enquiries are ongoing to locate him. Although we are in the very initial stages of the investigation, it\u2019s believed that this incident was targeted.”<\/p>\n Officers remained at the scene this morning as they carried out initial CCTV and witness enquiries. A house with visible damage to its front door was cordoned off, and two police vans could be seen parked outside.<\/p>\n Detective Inspector Darren Hankin said: \u201cI know residents in Kirkby will be shocked and saddened to hear that a crossbow has been used in the heart of their community.<\/p>\n \u201cTo fire such a weapon in a residential street so recklessly could clearly have had far more serious consequences, and we are grateful that nobody is reported to have been hurt during this incident.<\/p>\n \u201cWe believe the suspect fled the area on a bike and our officers are conducting extensive enquiries to locate him, seize the weapon and bring him to justice.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are also keen to speak to anyone who was in the general area who saw or heard anything suspicious or believes they captured something significant on their dashcam, CCTV or doorbell camera.<\/p>\n \u201cWeapons, whether they be knives, firearms or crossbows, have no place in Merseyside.
