{"id":149787,"date":"2025-06-01T15:40:20","date_gmt":"2025-06-01T15:40:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/149787\/"},"modified":"2025-06-01T15:40:20","modified_gmt":"2025-06-01T15:40:20","slug":"record-numbers-turn-out-for-aberdeens-kiltwalk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/149787\/","title":{"rendered":"Record numbers turn out for Aberdeen&#8217;s Kiltwalk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A record breaking 6,000 people strode out on two routes to Duthie Park in the city, raising more than \u00a31.2 million in donations for 500 charities.<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/0_jgr_010625_kilt02.jpg\" loading=\"eager\"  \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The streets of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/news\/scottish-news\/aberdeen-fans-violent-brawl-rivals-35284351\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Aberdeen <\/a>turned tartan today as thousands took part in this year\u2019s <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/in-your-area\/renfrewshire\/glasgow-airport-team-take-kiltwalk-35228625\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Kiltwalk<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A record breaking 6,000 people strode out on two routes to Duthie Park in the city, raising more than \u00a31.2 million in donations for 500 charities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The majority set off from Bellfield Park in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/news\/scottish-news\/biker-dies-after-horror-three-34932921\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Banchory <\/a>at 9am on Super Sunday for the 18-mile Mighty Stride while 1,300 Wee Wanderers set off from Cults Academy to make the four-mile trek to the beauty spot, winding their way alongside the River Dee.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Since it was set up by Sir Tom Hunter 10 years ago, Kiltwalk has raised \u00a354 million.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/0_jgr_010625_kilt03.jpg\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Kiltwalk CEO Paul Cooney, said: \u201cIt\u2019s incredible that 517 charities here in the North East of Scotland will benefit from today\u2019s efforts. Charities of all sizes; the biggest with 325 supporters to countless smaller charities &#8211; each with one or two walkers. Every penny, every pound raised plus Gift Aid goes to the causes chosen by the walkers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cLast year\u2019s Aberdeen Kiltwalk raised \u00a31.1 million and we are set to raise even more this year.
