Meteorologists have admitted that while June looks set to begin with some balmy temperatures, the UK is set to also see a fair amount of rain and wind.<\/p>\n
Giving an overview of what Britons can expect in June, Ian Simpson from NetWeather said: “Confidence is of course relatively low once you get more than seven days out, but there is quite a strong signal among the medium to long range forecast models that the weather will continue changeable, albeit quite warm at times, with mainly westerly and south-westerly winds through to around June 10.<\/p>\n
“The weather pattern that we\u2019ll be getting isn\u2019t normally associated with particularly warm weather, but sea surface temperatures are well above the long-term average in most parts of the North Atlantic, especially to the south-west of Britain, and this will result in these westerly types being warmer than we would normally expect.<\/p>\n
“But most people are really asking about when the dry sunny weather will return, and for the next 10 days it often won\u2019t be particularly dry or sunny.”<\/p>\n
The Met Office offers a similar verdict on the weather for the coming weeks.<\/p>\n

In its long range forecast for June 6 to 15, the national weather service said that models showed “all areas seeing showers or longer spells of rain at times as Atlantic systems move across the country”.<\/p>\n
“Early in this period, wet weather is likely to be more focused across southern parts before the focus of wetter weather returns to the northwest,” it added.<\/p>\n
“Towards the middle of June, there is an increased chance that high pressure will become more dominant, at least in the south.<\/p>\n
“This would result in some longer periods of drier weather, however, unsettled spells remain likely. <\/p>\n

There is a 45 per cent chance that the UK will have a hot summer when the next three months are taken as a whole<\/p>\n
MET OFFICE<\/p>\n
“Following a rather cool start to this period, there is a greater chance of warmer spells towards mid-June.”<\/p>\n
It is not until towards the end of the month that the Met Office predicts the good weather of recent weeks may return.<\/p>\n
Giving its early outlook for June 15 to June 29, it said: “Changeable weather is most likely across the UK with a mixture of Atlantic weather systems moving in from the west interspersed with dry and sunny periods perhaps with a bias towards longer dry spells early in the period.<\/p>\n
“Temperatures are most likely to be near or slightly above normal, perhaps with some hot spells at times especially across the south.”<\/p>\n

Beyond the next month there is still plenty of reason for Britons to be hopeful of a hot summer.<\/p>\n
In July and August the Met Office says the UK is likely to experience a hotter-than-normal summer with an increased chance for heatwaves.<\/p>\n
The weather service says that over the course of the three months as a whole, June 1 to August 31 is twice as likely to be hotter than average.<\/p>\n
