A West Midlands town has been named as one of the most ‘underrated’ in the whole country.<\/p>\n
Prospective house buyers are being pointed towards Rowley Regis in the Black Country due to a number of factors which place it high on the list for places to live.<\/p>\n
Chief among these is cheaper than average house prices and the close proximity to Birmingham<\/a>, making it an ideal commuter town.<\/p>\n READ MORE: People born after this date won’t get their state pension until they are 67 amid rule change<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Get our best money saving tips and hacks by signing up to our newsletter<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n Train and bus links make travel into Birmingham easy, while in terms of driving it’s also close to the M5 and Wolverhampton Road.<\/p>\n Rowley Regis was ranked second on a national list which considered several factors for towns close to major cities.<\/p>\n These also included crime rates, average salaries, commuter times by both train and car, local amenities and schools.<\/p>\n The town was given an overall score of 6.96 out of 10, which could only be beaten by Horsforth near Leeds.<\/p>\n Average house prices in Rowley were a \u00a3206,000, well below the UK average of \u00a3298,000, while median pay for residents is \u00a327,400.<\/p>\n It was closely followed by Sutton Coldfield<\/a> in third.<\/p>\n They were the only two West Midlands towns to make the top 10 on the list compiled by property service Sell House Fast.<\/p>\n They said: “Rowley Regis ranks second, balancing affordability with excellent school access and short train commutes.<\/p>\n “A train journey to Birmingham takes 21 minutes, while driving takes 41.5 minutes.<\/p>\n “The average house price here is a very accessible \u00a3206,009 \u2014 23.2% cheaper than the national average.<\/p>\n “This is also over \u00a3130,000 cheaper than Harborne<\/a> (\u00a3336,469) and nearly half the price of Edgbaston<\/a> (\u00a3388,665), offering exceptional value for buyers priced out of Birmingham\u2019s trendiest postcodes.”<\/p>\n They added: “But what makes Rowley Regis stand out is the local amenities. Within five miles are 43 coffee shops, 114 bars and pubs, and 103 restaurants.<\/p>\n “Rowley Regis also benefits from excellent school provision.
