{"id":150151,"date":"2025-06-01T18:55:11","date_gmt":"2025-06-01T18:55:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/150151\/"},"modified":"2025-06-01T18:55:11","modified_gmt":"2025-06-01T18:55:11","slug":"two-scots-with-gang-links-shot-dead-at-irish-bar-in-spain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/150151\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Scots with gang links shot dead at Irish bar in Spain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Two Scottish men with gang links have died following a shooting at a bar in Spain.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>STV News understands they are Ross Monaghan, who was previously linked to a high profile gang-related murder, and Eddie Lyons Jr.<\/p>\n<p>Monaghan was acquitted of the murder of Kevin Carroll in 2010 after the judge at his 2012 trial ruled there was insufficient evidence.<\/p>\n<p>Eddie Lyons Jr had previously been shot in 2006, in an incident that was believed to be part of a gang feud.<\/p>\n<p>Local media reported that a masked man pulled up outside Monaghans Irish Bar in Fuengirola, in the province of M\u00e1laga, Andalusia, around 23:00 and\u00a0fired multiple shots.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/2c76da4d7bb2f152dbb9283adec021e4-1748801789.jpeg\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\"   alt=\"Monaghans Irish Bar in Fuengirola is in a popular tourist destination. (EBU) EBU<\/p>\n<p>Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>The bar is located in a holiday destination and is popular with tourists.<\/p>\n<p>The Diario Sur newspaper, which covers the region, reported that the authorities have mobilised a specialist violent crime unit to investigate the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Eye witness Siobhan Duffy, from Dublin, said: \u201cI was sitting in an Argentinian restaurant with my sister and we saw a bit of commotion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThree people ran past the restaurant, a young lad and two girls, then we saw the police over on the beach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we saw all the police and ambulances coming, we had no idea what was happening. We thought maybe someone had a heart attack or something.
