Oldham Athletic have become the final club to book their place in next season’s League Two following a dramatic 3-2 extra-time victory over Southend United in the National League play-off final at Wembley on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Oldham, who finished the regular season in fifth place, drew 1-1 in normal time against the Shrimpers as Joe Garner’s penalty early in the second half cancelled out an early own goal from Manny Monthe.<\/p>\n
Southend re-took the lead early in the second half but a quickfire Oldham double from James Norwood and Kian Harratt turned the tie around.<\/p>\n

Southend are managed by former Gas coach Kevin Maher, while popular ex-Pirates midfielder Jordan Rossiter is on loan at Oldham and came on as a substitute.<\/p>\n Micky Mellon’s side’s promotion means that Rovers now know every team they will face in the fourth tier next season, with fixture release day set for Thursday, June 26.<\/p>\n The Gas played Oldham the last time they were in League Two in the 2021\/22 campaign, winning 1-0 at the Mem and losing 2-1 at Boundary Park.
