{"id":150319,"date":"2025-06-01T20:25:08","date_gmt":"2025-06-01T20:25:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/150319\/"},"modified":"2025-06-01T20:25:08","modified_gmt":"2025-06-01T20:25:08","slug":"strong-result-for-lawson-in-spain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/150319\/","title":{"rendered":"Strong result for Lawson in Spain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Finishing just outside the points in 11th, having improved from starting 13th, Liam Lawson\u2019s performance at the Spanish Grand Prix will be considered strong and maybe slightly unlucky.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom our side, it was a very strong race,\u201d commented Lawson. \u201cDespite spending a lot of it in traffic, we had good speed and were overtaking cars, so it was working out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe ended up in the wrong position and missed the safety car line by half a second because everyone in front of us boxed. To be that close after all the work we did in the race is really unfortunate. As we look ahead to Canada, we\u2019ll take the positives of great race pace. Points are always the goal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Laim-Lawson-Spain-race-photo-Sam-Bagnall-Sutton-Images-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-58559\"  \/><strong>#30 Liam Lawson \u2013 photo Sam Bagnall-Sutton Images<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Grand Prix saw a McLaren 1-2 with Oscar Piastri winning from Lando Norris.  Ferrari\u2019s Charles Leclerc finished third. Lawson\u2019s teammate Isack Hadjar continued his stella season finishing seventh and in the points.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA very strong weekend here in Barcelona,\u201d commented Laurent Mekies, Team Principal.\u00a0 \u201cA huge thank you to the team here and back at the factory. As we come to the end of a triple header, it\u2019s been three times in Q3 and three times in the points for us, so it\u2019s been mega.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s been lots of progress compared to this time last\u00a0here in Spain where we weren\u2019t very fast, but this year the car was strong, and we could fight at the top of the midfield for most of the race; the safety car at the end mixed things up a bit, but nonetheless we gained some very good points.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn incredible performance from Isack across the whole weekend, yesterday in Q3 and out there killing it on track today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLiam was stuck in some traffic after a slightly slower Quali yesterday, but he was fast, he made some very good moves and he\u2019s back to a very good pace.
