However he said the timing of its arrival played into the hands of those he was racing against.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom our side it was a very strong race, we just ended up in the wrong position,\u201d he told the official F1 channel afterwards. \u201cWe missed the Safety Car line by half a second, probably, and so everybody in front of us boxed and we just got screwed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo to have it that close after all the work we did in the race, it just sucks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.racefans.net\/fernando-alonso\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fernando Alonso<\/a> was running behind Lawson when the Safety Car was deployed. The Aston Martin driver was able to pit and used his fresh tyres to take the final points position off Lawson with two laps to go.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the end of the day we\u2019re here to score points and it\u2019s frustrating,\u201d said Lawson.<\/p>\n<p>He was cleared over two separate incidents in the race involving two rivals. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.racefans.net\/alexander-albon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alexander Albon<\/a> made contact with the Haas when Bearman passed him at turn one. The stewards ruled that clash was not Bearman\u2019s fault.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-above-ad\">Advert | <a href=\"https:\/\/www.racefans.net\/contribute-racefans\/racefans-supporter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Become a RaceFans supporter and go ad-free<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The stewards also cleared Bearman for making \u201cminor contact\u201d with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.racefans.net\/f1-information\/drivers\/isack-hadjar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Isack Hadjar<\/a> during an attempted pass at turn one.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCar 30 (Lawson) was attempting to overtake car 87 (Bearman) on the inside of turn one,\u201d the stewards ruled. \u201cCar 30 was nowhere near the mirror of car 87 at the apex.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was minor contact between the two cars during this attempt and Car 87 took the escape road. Both cars maintained their respective positions before the minor collision.
