The real-life \u201cAnnabelle\u201d doll was blamed for a string of alarming incidents by conspiracy theorists that claimed it escaped while on tour in New Orleans \u2014 but its owner confirmed it\u2019s safely back home and \u201cwas never out of control.\u201d<\/p>\n
The diabolical \u2014 and supposedly demonic \u2014 Raggedy Ann doll fictionalized in \u201cThe Conjuring\u201d movie series made a pit stop at Ghost City Tours office in the Big Easy in mid-May \u2014 the same week of a daring prison breakout and a devastating fire at a former plantation nearby.<\/p>\n
The timing led to speculation that the doll was behind the chaos.<\/p>\n
The \u201cAnnabelle\u201d doll is back in Connecticut after a brief tour. Matthew McDermott<\/p>\n
But she\u2019s \u201csafely back\u201d behind lock and key at the Warren Occult Museum<\/a> in Monroe, Connecticut, owner Tony Spera told The Post.<\/p>\n \u201cThe doll was taken on a brief tour to several locations to show the doll to enthusiasts of the paranormal,\u201d Spera said.<\/p>\n \u201cThe doll was never out of our control. We take extreme precautions when handling or transporting the doll.\u201d<\/p>\n The precautions, which included having a Catholic priest traveling with Annabelle, apparently weren\u2019t enough for some observers who believe the doll\u2019s stint in New Orleans on May 13 and 14 was a bad omen.<\/p>\n An inferno destroyed the historic Nottoway Plantation House between Baton Rouge and New Orleans on May 15 and the next day 10 inmates escaped<\/a> from the Orleans Justice Center. Most inmates have since been recaptured. <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI did not think people were taking it seriously, (because) I kept seeing jokes about it on Instagram and TikTok,\u201d Ghost City Tours founder Tim Nealon told USA Today.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cBut, I didn\u2019t realize people were out here like, actually thinking that this was legit.\u201d<\/p>\n Fire crews took on the fire at the Nottoway Plantation on Thursday, May 15.
