Leeds United will certainly need to strengthen Daniel Farke\u2019s squad in order to fight for survival in the Premier League.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Leeds<\/a> won the Championship with 100 points scoring 95 goals along the way, a season that deserves to be celebrated.<\/p>\n

But Farke\u2019s side will be subject to much tougher defensive scrutiny in the top flight, stressing the need for the 49ers to recruit.<\/p>\n

After failing to keep Norwich City in the Premier League previously, Farke might have recognised the need to recruit proven top flight experience and quality this summer.<\/p>\n

And when it comes to upgrades, Leeds do desperately need to address their goalkeeping situation following Illan Meslier<\/a> losing his number one spot towards the end of last campaign.<\/p>\n

Leeds want to sign Nick Pope from Newcastle<\/p>\n

That being said, Leeds are now targeting a move for Newcastle United\u2019s Nick Pope<\/a> according to Mail Sport<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Karl Darlow picked up the gloves towards the end of Leeds\u2019 promotion campaign, but it\u2019s clearly a position in which Farke can strengthen.<\/p>\n

Darlow (52 games), Meslier (107 games) both have solid experience in the Premier League, but Leeds fans would surely prefer to see a new number one come in.<\/p>\n

And therefore, Farke\u2019s side are targeting Pope from Newcastle, should the Magpies chase a deal for Burnley\u2019s James Trafford this summer.<\/p>\n

Pope is an excellent shot-stopper and he would be a huge upgrade on Meslier in terms of how he dominates his box.<\/p>\n

However, there seemingly are doubts at St James\u2019 Park regarding his distribution \u2014 he\u2019s not exceptional with the ball at his feet.<\/p>\n

But in terms of Leeds\u2019 immediate demands, the \u00a310m<\/a> keeper would definitely be someone who could play a key role in their hopes of Premier League survival.<\/p>\n

Pep Guardiola praised Nick Pope last season<\/p>\n

If any evidence was needed in regards to Pope\u2019s quality, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola<\/a> called the goalkeeper \u2018brilliant\u2019 last season.<\/p>\n

Man City drew 1-1 at St James\u2019 Park last September and Guardiola was left lamenting a superb goalkeeping display.<\/p>\n

Speaking to TNT Sports<\/a>, Guardiola said: \u201cPope was brilliant in two or three saves, but yeah, we will take the point.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of course, Leeds fans would be very happy were Pope to head to Elland Road with similar results next season.<\/p>\n

And in terms of how much Leeds have to spend this summer, finance expert Kieran Maguire recently commented on the club\u2019s situation to BBC Sport<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fellow promoted side Sunderland have a lot of money to spend<\/a>, but in terms of Leeds\u2019 finances, Maguire said: \u201cThey will have to box clever in terms of recruitment.
