{"id":151638,"date":"2025-06-02T08:28:16","date_gmt":"2025-06-02T08:28:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/151638\/"},"modified":"2025-06-02T08:28:16","modified_gmt":"2025-06-02T08:28:16","slug":"spains-manufacturing-sector-rebounds-in-may-pmi-shows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/151638\/","title":{"rendered":"Spain&#8217;s manufacturing sector rebounds in May, PMI shows"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">MADRID (Reuters) -Spain&#8217;s manufacturing sector returned to growth in May for the first time since January as a partial lifting of U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/issues\/tariffs\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:tariffs;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tariffs<\/a> fuelled business optimism, a survey showed on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The HCOB Spain Manufacturing PMI, compiled by S&amp;P Global, rose to 50.5 in May from 48.1 in April, just above the 50.0 mark that separates growth from contraction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The indicator showed growth for the first time since January when it was 50.9.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The improvement was driven by a modest expansion in output, which was linked to a better trend in sales and a partial easing of global tariff uncertainty compared to April, the survey said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">&#8220;While Spain\u2019s direct dependence on the U.S. market is relatively limited compared to countries like Germany or Italy, indirect effects from a generally improved global trade outlook may also be contributing,&#8221; said Jonas Feldhusen, Junior Economist at Hamburg Commercial Bank.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Looking ahead, business expectations improved to a three-month high, with firms hopeful for a more stable economic environment over the next 12 months.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">However, uncertainty remains due to erratic U.S. trade policy under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/people\/donald-trump\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:President Trump;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">President Trump<\/a> which continues to limit global planning reliability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Spain&#8217;s economic growth slowed slightly in the first quarter but the manufacturing sector kept expanding rapidly, the National Statistics Institute said on Tuesday.
