Hours after Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell<\/a> announced retirement from ODI cricket, South Africa wicketkeeper-batter, Heinrich Klaasen announced retirement from international cricket. The decision from the Protea international came on Monday, June 2 after he culminated his Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025<\/a> edition with Sunrisers Hyderabad in May end.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Taking to Instagram, Klaasen began his post which read, \u201cIt is a sad day for me as I announce that I have decided to step away from international cricket. It took me a long time to decide what\u2019s best for me and my family for the future. It was truly a very difficult decision but also one that I have absolute peace with.\u201d<\/p>\n

Heinrich Klaasen retires from international cricket<\/p>\n

The big-hitter of the ball, Klaasen, who earlier put down curtains to his Test career on Janury 8, 2024, further recalled his time in international cricket. \u201cFrom the first day, it was the biggest privilege representing my country and it was everything that I have worked for and dreamed about as a young boy. I have made great friendships and relationships that I will treasure for life,\u201d his statement read.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old further added that he wishes to spend some quality time with his family and support his national side from the sidelines. \u201cI look forward to spending more time with my family as this decision will allow me to do so. I will always be a big Proteas supporter and would like to thank everyone that supported me and my teammates during my career,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n

The right-handed batter, who is known from belligerent six-hitting concluded his international career, having played four Tests, 60 ODIs and 58 T20Is. While he has only scored 104 runs in the longest format, he puts down curtains to his white-ball cricketing career with 2141 runs in 50-over format and 1000 runs in T20Is.<\/p>\n
