All the objects that tell the story of Princess Diana’s life and provide details about the British royal family are now up for auction. Among them is a rare letter, handwritten by her, just two days after her wedding to King Charles.<\/p>\n
Julien’s Auctions presented the rare collection, “Princess Diana’s Style and a Royal Collection,” containing over 300 historical objects, making it one of the largest auctions in her name.<\/p>\n
Her letter<\/strong><\/p>\n This letter, dated July 31, 1981, from Princess Diana to Mark Simpson, a staff member at Buckingham Palace, was written during a sensitive period for her, just days after she entered royal life.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n “It was the period when she was adjusting to life in the palace, a transition from ordinary life to royal reality,” the auction organizers say.<\/p>\n
\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n According to the organizers, Diana had established a good relationship with Mark, who was almost her age.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n “In the letter she tells how lonely she felt in the palace, and how much his presence had helped her.”<\/p>\n
\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n The letter contains these words:<\/strong><\/p>\n “Dear Mark, I just wanted to thank you for all the kindness and patience you have shown me since I moved into Buckingham Palace.\u00a0<\/p>\n Your company made my stay so much easier, because I was feeling quite lonely, and we laughed so much, I can’t thank you enough. I hope you enjoyed Wednesday and liked my dress.<\/p>\n Tomorrow I leave for Britain with all these men around, I have to be careful of Evelina!<\/p>\n The bad news is that I didn’t eat any cereal. I’m sorry!<\/p>\n “A big thank you for being yourself. With much love, Diana.”<\/p>\n This letter reveals much about her personal experience as a new member of the Royal Family.
