This is actually a \u201cfilm layer designed to prevent fragments scattering in the event of damage,\u201d and the <a href=\"https:\/\/go.skimresources.com\/?id=1025X1701640&amp;xs=1&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nintendo.com%2Feu%2Fmedia%2Fdownloads%2Flegal_1%2Finformation_for_online_retailers_and_distributors%2Fnintendo_switch_20%2FMXAS_BEE_S_E5G_WWWBooklet1_1.pdf\" rel=\"sponsored noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Switch 2\u2019s European safety manual<\/a>, spotted by fan site <a href=\"https:\/\/nintendosoup.com\/nintendo-tells-users-not-to-remove-the-film-layer-from-the-switch-2-screen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NintendoSoup<\/a>, specifically warns not to peel it off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">This advice <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2021\/10\/8\/22715422\/nintendo-switch-oled-anti-scattering-film-protective-cover\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">might sound familiar<\/a>, because the Switch OLED had a similar anti-scattering layer with the same warning. In both cases, the goal is to minimize the spread of glass splinters if the screen gets smashed. Foldable phones also commonly ship with protective anti-scratch films that mustn\u2019t be removed, which infamously caused problems when the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2019\/4\/17\/18412572\/samsung-galaxy-fold-screen-damage-statement-inspect-screen-protector\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first Galaxy Fold reviewers did exactly that<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">The Switch 2 safety document includes a host of other helpful tips \/ attempts to cover Nintendo from lawsuits, ranging from the inane (\u201cBe aware of your surroundings\u201d) to the unexpectedly technical (\u201cPay attention to the load capacity of the circuit when choosing where to plug the product in.\u201d) Nintendo recommends you avoid using the Switch 2 in dusty, smoky, or humid environments; that you stick to playing it in temperatures between 5 and 35 degrees Celsius; and that you charge the batteries at least once every six months. <\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">The new Joy-Con controllers get their own set of warnings. There\u2019s the usual caution about using straps to avoid throwing a Joy-Con into your TV, but the document also warns against placing stickers over the controllers\u2019 shoulder buttons, which might impede the magnets used to attach them to the console.
