Visitors from all over the world<\/a> are set to flock to Birmingham<\/a> to enjoy a ‘Super Weekend’ this summer – and it’s right around the corner.<\/p>\n The city is gearing up to host of a number of huge events on the weekend of July 5 and 6, with music legends, rock n’ rollers, food lovers, sports fans and many more setting their sights on town to enjoy it all.<\/p>\n It’s expected to create quite a buzz in the city and almost all of our major venues will be in on the action, something that could have a positive knock-on effect for pubs, bars, hotels and restaurants in town.<\/p>\n Read more: Free family festival returns to park near Birmingham after six years<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Subscribe to the Brum Food Club<\/a> for a weekly food and drink newsletter, in your inbox, every Thursday. It’s free.<\/strong><\/p>\n Perhaps the biggest of the events scheduled for the weekend is the Black Sabbath Back To The Beginning gig<\/strong> at Villa Park Stadium<\/a>.<\/p>\n Ozzy Osbourne’s final ever performance is set for July 5 and he’s bringing with him a mega line-up of superstars, including Hollywood favourite Jason Momoa who will host the day<\/a>.<\/p>\n Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, Pantera and many more are scheduled to perform at the day-long gig, with stars from bands like Aerosmith, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Guns N Roses billed too<\/a>.<\/p>\n Sabbath aren’t the only Birmingham legends saying goodbye in their hometown that weekend.<\/p>\n Jeff Lynne’s ELO will be at the Utilita Arena<\/strong> (that’s the NIA to old-school Brummies) on July 5 and 6 for two goodbye performances.<\/p>\n The Mr Blue Sky hitmakers will be performing the Over and Out tour two nights on the bounce due to ‘phenomenal demand’.<\/p>\n The third of Birmingham’s big music venues, the BP Pulse Arena over at the NEC, has a gig on July 5 too.<\/p>\n Billy Ocean will be performing fan favourites at a ‘greatest hits’ show<\/strong> supported by German musician Ada Morghe.<\/p>\n It’s perhaps the least expensive of the weekend’s big shows, with tickets from \u00a336.50 (that’s in comparison to the \u00a3197.50 cheapest passes for Black Sabbath and the \u00a376.50 cost to see ELO).<\/p>\n It’s not all music on Super Weekend either.<\/p>\n Down at Edgbaston<\/a>, cricket fans will be heading to see the England v India Test Match<\/strong> , scheduled to take place between July 2-6.<\/p>\n The two men’s teams, among the best in the world, will face off as Shubman Gill and Ben Stokes lead them into the blockbuster fixture.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, in the city centre, the Colmore Food Festival<\/strong> is returning to Victoria Square<\/a> on July 4 and July 5.<\/p>\n Around 30,000 people head up to Pigeon Park on Colmore Food Festival days, dining on portions from the city’s finest establishments.<\/p>\n Expect snacks in the sun, locally-brewed beers, talks and performances in one of the city’s most picturesque locations.<\/p>\n To mark the busy Birmingham weekend, venues across the city are planning special events for fans, which we’ll share as we approach July. Not all of them will require big cash sums to enjoy.<\/p>\n
