Romelle Donovan has left Birmingham City to join Premier League side Brentford after 12 years on the club’s books\"RomelleRomelle Donovan in action for Birmingham City<\/p>\n

Romelle Donovan has bid a fond farewell to Birmingham City after completing a permanent transfer to Brentford.<\/p>\n

Donovan spent the second half of last season on loan at Brentford’s B team and helped them win the Professional Development League cup final.<\/a><\/p>\n

The 18-year-old’s loan has now become a permanent transfer after Brentford exercised a clause in the deal.<\/p>\n

Donovan has signed a five-year contract with the Bees, which includes the option of an additional 12 months, and will join Thomas Frank’s first team squad ahead of the 2025\/26 campaign.<\/p>\n

Posting on his Instagram, Donovan said: “After many enjoyable years at Birmingham<\/a> City FC, it\u2019s time to close this chapter of my life. From joining as an under-8 to making my first team debut, every moment has been a dream come true.<\/p>\n

“The club has shaped me not only as a player but also as a person, and I\u2019ll always be grateful for that.<\/p>\n

“Thank you to all the coaches, teammates, staff, and fans who have supported me along the way, you\u2019ve been like family.<\/p>\n

“The memories, the milestones, and the people I\u2019ve met here will always stay with me. I\u2019ll never forget my time at this special club. Keep Right On.”<\/p>\n

Donovan made seven Championship appearances for Blues in 2023\/24 and will now get the chance to become a Premier League player.<\/p>\n

Brentford’s director of football, Phil Giles, commented: \u201cWhen Romelle arrived on loan in January, we knew he was a talented player with potential, but it\u2019s fair to say that in his time with us he\u2019s exceeded our expectations.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis performances for the B team have been outstanding and he has shown himself to have a desire to work hard in training. He has earned his place in our first team squad for next season.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe will need to continue to work hard, on and off the pitch, to continue his progression with us towards first-team matches.\u201d<\/p>\n
