{"id":152643,"date":"2025-06-02T17:29:18","date_gmt":"2025-06-02T17:29:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/152643\/"},"modified":"2025-06-02T17:29:18","modified_gmt":"2025-06-02T17:29:18","slug":"ingenostrum-to-build-300mw-data-center-in-spain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/152643\/","title":{"rendered":"Ingenostrum to build 300MW data center in Spain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-block-key=\"ddxdr\">Renewable energy firm Ingenostrum will build a 300MW data center in Spain.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"cpamc\">Dubbed Nostrum Evergreen, it will be situated near Badajoz, a city in southern Spain located in the autonomous community of Extremadura.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"ddxdr\">As reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eleconomista.es\/economia\/noticias\/13391695\/05\/25\/nostrum-evergreen-el-nuevo-mega-centro-de-datos-impulsado-por-ingenostrum-group-en-badajoz.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">El Economista<\/a>, the facility will be built in phases starting in 2026. The Spanish data center operator will invest \u20ac1.9bn ($2.2bn) for the project.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"evu4u\">Ingenostrum has another facility \u2013 CC Green \u2014 planned in Extremadura, and this data center will offer 150MW of capacity.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"4pj1r\">CEO Gabriel Nebreda said that the company has a vision of exponential growth in digital computing worldwide, and that the future of data and energy depends on territories like Extremadura.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"7bk5t\">Nebreda <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eleconomista.es\/tecnologia\/noticias\/13299834\/04\/25\/gabriel-nebreda-ingenostrum-buscamos-socios-para-captar-400-millones-con-el-reto-de-crear-data-centers-en-cuatro-comunidades.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously<\/a> told El Economista that they had more than 700MW of projects under development in Galicia, Madrid, and Castilla-La Mancha, and that they intended to raise \u20ac400m ($460m) in equity between late 2025 and 2028 for these developments. BBVA, a Spanish bank, was tapped to support Ingenostrum\u2019s financing strategy.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"2otl8\">In March 2023, Ingenostrum was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.datacenterdynamics.com\/en\/news\/impulsa-galicia-and-ingenostrum-to-partner-on-a-400m-carbon-neutral-data-center-in-spain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">selected<\/a> by Impulsa Galicia, a public-private partnership from the Galician local government, to partner with it on a \u20ac400m ($424m) carbon-neutral data center project.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"4nue0\">Ingenostrum, founded in 2009, initially specialized in renewable energy before adding colocation services to its portfolio. It does not currently operate a data center \u2013 Nebreda said that the company expects the first data centers to be operational in 2027.<\/p>\n<p data-block-key=\"3dpb0\">Ingenostrum says it has 5GW of renewable energy in operation and another gigawatt in development.
