Now that Simon Yates (Visma-Lease a Bike) has wrapped up the 2025 Giro d’Italia, the rider and team that seemed destined to win the race right up until everything collapsed spectacularly<\/a> on stage 20 have offered some insight into their thinking. Isaac del Toro defended his approach to the climactic mountain battle in an interview on Sunday, but UAE Team Emirates-XRG sports director Fabio Baldato and team boss Mauro Gianetti both acknowledged that mistakes were made.<\/p>\n

“I don’t think I did anything wrong,” Del Toro said after the 21st and final stage in Rome.<\/p>\n
