The A-lister said there were certain similarities between movie stars and race car drivers, despite being markedly different professions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s an isolation,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gq.com\/story\/making-of-the-f1-movie-brad-pitt-lewis-hamilton-damson-idris\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he told GQ.<\/a> \u201cEven a loneliness when you don\u2019t feel like things are clicking. They usually lead to something greater and you can find purpose in it. But\u00a0those\u00a0guys are so scrutinized and that sport is so revered and there are so many of us that think we could do it, too, just because we drive a car fast down the freeway or something. They get so much s**t. It is shocking to me. They\u2019ve got to have thicker skin than even us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pitt certainly isn\u2019t wrong. No driver is<a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/f1\/news\/how-formula-1-teams-look-after-their-mental-health\/6684272\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\"> immune from intense scrutiny and criticism<\/a>, and it extends well beyond on-track performance and strategy calls made by the team. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/f1\/news\/brown-marko-comments-about-norris-mental-health-sets-f1-back-10-20-years\/10664094\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lando Norris\u2019 mental toughness has been called into question<\/a>, Max Verstappen\u2019s attitude and radio outbursts have been a topic of debate, Lance Stroll\u2019s position on a team owned by his father has long been mocked by viewers, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/f1\/news\/formula-1s-evolution-of-embracing-lewis-hamilton-in-his-own-words\/10713759\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lewis Hamilton has been criticized for everything from his fashion choices to political activism<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/culture\/news\/brad-pitts-f1-movie-everything-we-know-so-far-\/10653239\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Trailers for the upcoming \u2018F1\u2019 film<\/a>, which stars Pitt as the\u00a0washed-up former driver Sonny Hayes, feature multiple lines addressing the intense pressure placed on these athletes. Javier Bardem, who plays the owner of the fictional APXGP team, describes Pitt\u2019s character as a \u201cguy who lives in a van\u201d and a \u201cgambling junkie.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, Kerry Condon\u2019s character tells Sonny Hayes that people aren\u2019t calling him a \u201chas-been,\u201d rather \u201cthey\u2019re saying you\u2019re a never-was.\u201d The intensity mirrors the real-life experience for many drivers, who are expected to make cameos in the film.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>While it remains to be seen how heavily they will be showcased in the final cut, director <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsport.com\/culture\/news\/why-the-f1-film-wouldnt-exist-without-gracious-drivers-cameos\/10702610\/#:~:text=%E2%80%9CWorking%20alongside%20Lewis%2C%20and%20all,such%20a%20high%2Dpressure%20environment.\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Joseph Kosinski previously told\u00a0Motorsport.com\u00a0<\/a>that the entire grid was \u201cincredibly gracious.\u201d He went on, \u201cThey\u2019re all very handsome, charming\u2026and they\u2019re friendly guys. You can see how they all got to where they are.
