Manchester United will be in the market for new goalkeepers this summer as Ruben Amorim re-tools his squad.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Manchester United have agreed to sign Matheus Cunha<\/a>, with the Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker making a big move to Old Trafford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ruben Amorim<\/a> will be delighted with that first new signing of the summer but knows he needs more.<\/p>\n

Goalkeepers will be on the radar with Andre Onana wanted in Saudi Arabia<\/a> and Altay Bayindir expected to move on<\/a>.<\/p>\n

United will explore goalkeeping additions, but one stopper sold in 2023 now finds himself on the chopping block.<\/p>\n

Bayer Leverkusen have appointed Erik ten Hag<\/a> as their new boss, handing the Dutchman a return to management.<\/p>\n

This is a huge summer of change for Leverkusen, with Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Jonathan Tah all following Xabi Alonso out of the club.<\/p>\n

Ten Hag can put his own stamp on Leverkusen and Brentford goalkeeper Mark Flekken is poised to join the club.<\/p>\n

That deal looks set to impact former United stopper Matej Kovar<\/a>, with Kicker<\/a> claiming that the Czech goalkeeper is now \u2018up for sale\u2019.<\/p>\n

United sold Kovar to Bayer Leverkusen<\/a> for \u00a37.7million in 2023, allowing him to leave on a permanent basis after a loan spell with Sparta Prague.<\/p>\n

Kovar was signed as developmental competition for Lukas Hradecky but Flekken\u2019s arrival pushes him down the pecking order.<\/p>\n

Kovar suffered a nightmare against Bayern Munich<\/a> in the Champions League, committing a terrible error as Leverkusen crashed out.<\/p>\n

Leverkusen seemingly intend to sell Kovar, with Ten Hag poised to let him go for the second time in just two years.<\/p>\n

It was Ten Hag who oversaw Kovar\u2019s United departure in 2023, and his situation this summer may now be a case of history repeating itself.<\/p>\n

Manchester United hold Matej Kovar buyback clause<\/strong><\/p>\n

United will pay close attention to Kovar\u2019s situation given the clauses in his deal.<\/p>\n

United hold a buy-back clause on Kovar<\/a> as well as a first option, meaning he could return to Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

That sounds unlikely, but the need for a new backup goalkeeper to replace Bayindir at least puts Kovar into the conversation.<\/p>\n

United will also have a sell-on clause on Kovar, so could take a slice of any sale Leverkusen agree.<\/p>\n
