{"id":153537,"date":"2025-06-03T01:19:09","date_gmt":"2025-06-03T01:19:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/153537\/"},"modified":"2025-06-03T01:19:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-03T01:19:09","slug":"equinox-soulcycle-members-in-new-york-could-get-refunds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/153537\/","title":{"rendered":"Equinox, SoulCycle Members in New York Could Get Refunds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> NEED TO KNOW<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New York Attorney General Letitia James announced a $600K settlement involving the Equinox Group over allegedly difficult cancellation agreements with customers<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe Equinox Group made it challenging for customers to end their membership, costing them time and money,\u201d she alleged<\/li>\n<li>The fitness group must also improve its disclosures moving forward<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_2-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Equinox and SoulCycle customers in New York may soon be entitled to cash back due to difficulty canceling memberships.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_4-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> On Friday, May 30, New York Attorney General Letitia James <a href=\"https:\/\/ag.ny.gov\/press-release\/2025\/attorney-general-james-secures-600000-fitness-company-equinox-its-hard-cancel\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> a $600,000 settlement from the fitness company, claiming Equinox, Equinox+ and SoulCycle made it \u201chard for New Yorkers to cancel their membership.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_6-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> James alleged Equinox Group failed to clearly disclose its subscription terms and did not provide consumers with the subscription acknowledgment required by New York law.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_8-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cNew Yorkers should be able to cancel a membership they no longer use or want without breaking a sweat,\u201d James said in a statement.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_10-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cThe Equinox Group made it challenging for customers to end their membership, costing them time and money. As a result of my office\u2019s settlement, New Yorkers can now cancel their membership with Equinox, SoulCycle, or any of Equinox Group\u2019s brands much faster.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_12-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> PEOPLE reached out to the Equinox Group for comment but did not immediately hear back.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_16-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> &#8220;Prior to being made aware of this inquiry, we had already begun to make changes to our terms and conditions in conformance with all statutory requirements, and our policies are in full compliance.
