Incheon, South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>Photograph By Kangheewan. | Moment | Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Asia-Pacific markets rose Wednesday after Wall Street rose on the back of a tech rally, led by chipmaker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/NVDA\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nvidia<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Shares in the artificial intelligence darling advanced nearly 3%, extending Monday&#8217;s gains and driving Nvidia&#8217;s market-cap <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/MSFT\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">past Microsoft<\/a>&#8216;s\u00a0for the first time since January. Chip companies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/AVGO\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Broadcom and<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/MU\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Micron Technology<\/a>\u00a0rose more than 3% and 4%, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>South Korean markets led gains in the region, resuming trade after opposition party leader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/06\/02\/opposition-party-leader-lee-jae-myung-leads-in-polls-as-south-korea-votes-for-new-president.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lee Jae-myung was elected president<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.KS11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kospi<\/a>\u00a0index popped 1.57% to hit a 10-month high,\u00a0while the small-cap Kosdaq advanced 1.06%.<\/p>\n<p>Over in Japan, the benchmark <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.N225\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nikkei 225<\/a> started the day 0.83% higher, while the broader Topix index moved up 0.47%.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.AXJO\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S&amp;P\/ASX 200<\/a> added 0.54% in early trade. Economists polled by Reuters expect the country&#8217;s GDP for the first-quarter of 2025 \u2014 due later in the day \u2014 to rise 1.5% year on year, from 1.3% in the previous quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Futures for Hong Kong&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.HSI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hang Seng index<\/a> stood at 23,397, pointing to a weaker open compared to the HSI&#8217;s last close of 23,512.49.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/06\/03\/stock-market-today-live-updates.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. futures<\/a> were little changed after Wall Street rose on a tech rally and a better-than-expected jobs report showing that the U.S.&#8217; labor market is holding up despite concerns of risks stemming from tariffs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/06\/02\/stock-market-today-live-updates.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Overnight stateside<\/a>, the broad-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.SPX\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S&amp;P 500 index<\/a> added 0.58% to close at 5,970.37, while the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.DJI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/a>\u00a0gained 214.16 points, or 0.51%, ending at 42,519.64.
