Birmingham City are bracing themselves for another fine after being charged by the FA following an incident at Cambridge United in their final game of last season.<\/p>\n
The FA have charged Blues and Cambridge for an incident which happened around the tunnel area at half-time and both clubs have until tomorrow to respond.<\/p>\n
An FA spokesperson said: \u201cCambridge United and Birmingham City<\/a> have been charged following the mass confrontation at their EFL League One fixture on Saturday 3 May.<\/p>\n \u201cIt’s alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players and\/or technical area occupants didn’t behave in an improper and\/or provocative way around the tunnel area at half-time.<\/p>\n \u201cCambridge and Birmingham City<\/a> have until Wednesday 4 June to respond.\u201d<\/p>\n Blues have now been charged four times for incidents of this type during the 2024\/25 campaign. They have already been fined following incidents in matches versus Wrexham, Shrewsbury and Bolton.<\/p>\n Blues manager Chris Davies was asked about his players\u2019 willingness to back each other up<\/a> after an altercation that went unpunished in the Good Friday draw with Crawley Town.<\/p>\n He said: \u201cIt\u2019s a fine balance. We don\u2019t want to be a team that is constantly getting in trouble, but I want them to try and look after themselves.<\/p>\n \u201cFor me, I encourage them to stick together on the pitch and I\u2019ll never shy away from that. I feel like they\u2019ve got that brothers mentality but I don\u2019t want them to be stupid so we\u2019ll keep an eye on it.\u201d<\/p>\n Rangers picture is becoming clearer<\/strong><\/p>\n It is no secret that Blues are interested in re-signing Rangers loan duo Ben Davies and Kieran Dowell but they have been forced to play a waiting game.<\/p>\n Rangers have been managerless since February and their new director of football, Kevin Thelwell, only started his job on Monday.<\/p>\n His first task is to appoint a new manager and Russell Martin has emerged as the overwhelming favourite in the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n For weeks now it has been a battle between Martin and Davide Ancelotti, the son of Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti, but the ex-Swansea City and Southampton manager appears to be heading to Ibrox.<\/p>\n Thelwell and Martin, if he is indeed appointed, will have to quickly set about rebuilding a Rangers side that finished 17 points behind rivals Celtic.<\/p>\n Davies and Dowell both have a year remaining on their contracts at Ibrox and Blues would gladly sign the pair on permanent deals if the price is right.<\/p>\n Pure profit deals aiding Blues<\/strong><\/p>\n Romelle Donovan\u2019s permanent switch to Brentford has boosted Blues\u2019 budget going into the summer transfer window.<\/p>\n Donovan came through Blues\u2019 academy so every penny of the reported \u00a33million \u2013 as per The Standard \u2013 will count as profit on the club\u2019s balance sheets.<\/p>\n And, as the transfer was completed before July 1, it will count towards this financial year\u2019s results.<\/p>\n Blues could also be aided by Jobe Bellingham\u2019s impending transfer away from Sunderland. Despite the Black Cats\u2019 promotion to the Premier League, Bellingham is set to complete a move to Germany and Borussia Dortmund \u2013 the club Jude Bellingham joined from Blues in 2020 \u2013 are favourites to sign the 19-year-old.<\/p>\n Blues are expected to bag a percentage of the profit Sunderland make from a sale which is set to be worth around \u00a325m.<\/p>\n Like the Donovan cash, any extras received for Bellingham will also help Blues comply with Profit and Sustainability (P&S).<\/p>\n Ex-Blues striker released<\/strong><\/p>\n Former Blues man Chuks Aneke won\u2019t be playing in the Championship for Charlton next season.<\/p>\n Aneke has been released by the Addicks following their victory over Leyton Orient in the League One play-off final.<\/p>\n Now 31, Aneke scored once in 28 appearances in League One last season, albeit all of them came as a substitute.<\/p>\n Should Blues prioritise Davies and Dowell?
