An \u00a380m redevelopment of a tram stop is the marquee plan on the list of key developments tabled recently.<\/p>\n

A new bridge so locals can access trams in the Bury<\/a> area has been touted. This would form part of a multi-million pound plan to redevelop the whole transport hub.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, visions to transform two Greater Manchester areas have been pushed forwards. In Oldham<\/a>, their long-awaited scheme to regenerate their town has now officially been tabled with planners.<\/p>\n

For Cheadle<\/a>, in Stockport<\/a>, an ‘action plan’ has been requested by councillors. They want to see the village\u2019s district centre brought back to life.<\/p>\n

Here is a breakdown of each borough\u2019s submitted planning applications this week<\/p>\n

New pedestrian bridge at tram stop ahead of \u00a380m transformation of transport interchange<\/strong><\/p>\n

A new bridge to access trams in Bury is set to be the first step in an \u00a380m transformation of the town\u2019s transport interchange.<\/p>\n

The plan will provide new pedestrian routes to tram platforms. Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) said the stand alone work would \u2018pave the way for full redevelopment\u2019 of the travel hub.<\/p>\n

Longer-term plans are to deliver an integrated transport hub joining up bus, tram and active travel as part of the Bee Network with improved passenger facilities.<\/p>\n

Developer believes \u2018no car parking required\u2019 for 20-flat showroom conversion<\/strong><\/p>\n

A former glass and furniture showroom just 50 metres from a Metrolink<\/a> stop could be converted into 20 flats.<\/p>\n

The two-storey, end terrace commercial property on Church Street West, Radcliffe<\/a>, is the subject of plans submitted to Bury Council in the past week.<\/p>\n

The 516 square foot \u2018L\u2019 shaped building is currently vacant but was used previously as a showroom and workshop.<\/p>\n

The future of a Manchester estate they used to call ’embarrassing’<\/strong><\/p>\n

Scores of homes are set for east Manchester on an estate in the shadow of the Etihad locals once called \u2018embarrassing\u2019.<\/p>\n

The planning application for 82 homes on the site of a former Beswick boozer is a \u2018significant step forward\u2019 for the Grey Mare Lane estate, which residents believe has long been maligned. Now a new masterplan has been drawn up, with 82 social flats eyed for the site of the former Manchester Bar pub, which was demolished in 2020.<\/p>\n

There would be a communal garden, balconies, and \u2018pedestrian link\u2019 to Newcombe Close.<\/p>\n

Six major projects could transform the way Oldham town centre looks forever, including turning part of the town hall into a hotel.<\/p>\n

Long-awaited planning applications for six huge developments landed on the council\u2019s planning desk on Thursday (April 10). The plans include major changes to Oldham\u2019s Civic Tower, the Civic Centre and its brutalistic theatre, the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Manchester Chambers, the former leisure centre, the demolished Magistrates Courts and a car park at Prince\u2019s Gate.<\/p>\n

The plans are part of the \u2018Oldham Town Regeneration project\u2019, a 15-year partnership between Oldham Council and \u2018urban developers\u2019 Muse.<\/p>\n

The transport network in Heywood<\/a> is set to undergo major restructuring.<\/p>\n

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) have revealed updated plans on how the new road layout will look in the town – focusing on \u2018active travel\u2019. The key changes include new signal-controlled pedestrian and cycle crossings; improvements to the car park on Hill Street; junction and traffic signal upgrades; as well as widened footpaths and upgrades to existing bus stops.<\/p>\n

The main driving force behind TfGM\u2019s plans is to improve journey times and the reliability of buses in the area.<\/p>\n

A bold vision for one Stockport town<\/strong><\/p>\n

A new vision for the future of Cheadle’s district centre is being worked up.<\/p>\n

Support for creating a new ‘action plan’ for the village was given by councillors during a meeting this week, subject to final approval from the council’s cabinet member for finance.<\/p>\n

The plan includes looking at footfall and the number of empty shops around the High Street area.<\/p>\n

It also includes speaking to shoppers and businesses as part of a ‘high street health check’.<\/p>\n
