Motel is one of Liverpool\u2019s most popular <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/music-nightlife-news\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">night-time venues<\/a>, with its &#8216;dive bar&#8217; vibe, live band karaoke and drinks deals drawing in huge crowds of customers every weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Located on Fleet Street, in the heart of the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/liverpool-city-centre\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">city centre\u2019s<\/a> <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/liverpool-bars\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">bar<\/a> and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/clubs\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">club<\/a> district, it is packed out every Friday and Saturday night with music from its rotating line-ups of DJs. The bar also hosts live karaoke sessions every Thursday and Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Motel first opened in September 2013, with its current owners DGB Hospitality describing it as a \u201cLiverpool nightlife institution\u201d. Last year, the bar added a huge neon sign on the side of the building, in keeping with its American dive bar theme.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The sign became a mini landmark for fans of the club and an easy way to spot the venue on a night out. However, Motel announced yesterday that the sign had been knocked off after a delivery van collided with it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/0_PBA_LEC_030123LIVERPOOL24.jpg\" alt=\"Motel on Fleet Street\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Motel on Fleet Street(Image: Trinity Mirror)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Staff posted a picture of the broken sign on the pavement with shattered light fittings. There was also some damage to the exterior of the building.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In a tongue-in-cheek post on Instagram, Motel vowed to carry on as normal, despite the setback. It said: \u201cSadly, we lost our sign to the top of a delivery van yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Content cannot be displayed without consent<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cBut we&#8217;re still here and we&#8217;ll be back open as usual on Thursday with Dive Bar Karaoke, dedicated to our beloved sign. Your light will shine on!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">On the loss of the sign Paul Senior, director of DGB Hospitality, said: \u201cWith the angles [sic] now.\u201d The post received more than 900 likes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Many customers of the club also expressed their disappointment at the iconic feature disappearing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Liverpool TikToker James Foley said: \u201cOh my god, this really saddens me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Andrew said: \u201cThe light that burns twice as bright burns half as long. RIP.\u201d Jen said: \u201cThe MoFELL sign.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Micky commented: \u201cGone but not forgotten.
