Didi Hamann has urged Liverpool<\/a> to consider parting ways with Darwin Nunez<\/a> this summer to help them land one of Europe<\/a>\u2019s most in-demand forwards.<\/p>\n

Nunez has registered just five Premier League<\/a> goals this season and has struggled to pin down a regular starting berth in Arne Slot\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

It was hoped that the Uruguayan, signed from Benfica for \u00a385million in June 2022<\/a>, would prove a long-term replacement for Roberto Firmino.<\/p>\n

But after three up-and-down years at Anfield, Nunez now appears likely to leave the club this summer as the Reds look to reinvest in their forward line.<\/p>\n

And former Liverpool midfielder Hamann reckons the club should consider using Nunez to help them sign Borussia Dortmund forward Jamie Gittens.<\/p>\n

Gittens, 20, has\u00a0caught the eye of a number of Premier League clubs<\/a>\u00a0with his largely impressive form for Bundesliga side Dortmund.<\/p>\n

The former Manchester City academy graduate is now said to be keen on the next step in his career<\/a>, though, having slipped down Niko Kovac\u2019s pecking order in recent months.<\/p>\n

\u2018One option that could work is Jamie Gittens and Darwin Nunez in a swap deal between Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund,\u2019 Hamann told InstantCasino. <\/p>\n

\u2018Gittens started the season on fire and was almost carrying the team for the first three months of the season.<\/p>\n

\u2018Since the new manager arrived he has found things a bit hard and not started many games, because the new manager is looking for the hardest workers. <\/p>\n

\u2018He needed time to adapt but came off the bench and scored on Saturday, hopefully he will have an impact in the Champions League. But I would say that Gittens and Nunez in a swap deal is not that far-fetched.\u2019<\/p>\n

Gittens was valued at \u20ac100m just a few months ago<\/a>\u00a0as Dortmund sought to fend off interest in the England Under-21 international during the January transfer window.<\/p>\n

But the club are now expected to revise that figure downwards given his change in circumstance and desire to leave the club in the summer. <\/p>\n

At present, Liverpool, Chelsea and United are said to be front of the queue to sign Gittens, but former Liverpool forward Ryan Babel reckons that Arsenal may well win the race for the talented youngster.<\/p>\n

\u2018I think there\u2019s a good chance we could see Jamie Gittens playing in the Premier League next season,\u2019 Babbel told\u00a0Wette.de<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2018They will have to sell some players this summer and Gittens is the player they\u2019ll be able to sell for the most money \u2013 so a move would make sense for all parties.<\/p>\n

\u2018Given his qualities, he\u2019ll be wanting to play in the Champions League next year which is why Arsenal will have a massive chance of signing him in the summer. He\u2019d be a brilliant addition to Mikel Arteta\u2019s team.\u2019<\/p>\n
