Liverpool are already up and running in the summer transfer window with the signing of Jeremie Frimpong and they could soon follow it up with Florian Wirtz.<\/strong><\/p>\n

TBR Football<\/strong> recently confirmed that Liverpool have learned they will have to set a British transfer record to sign Wirtz<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Liverpool bid around \u00a3110million to sign Wirtz<\/a>, their priority target this summer \u2013 but Bayer Leverkusen want more.<\/p>\n

David Ornstein<\/a> has now shared the latest on the state of play involving Liverpool<\/a> and Wirtz, complete with a message for the Anfield faithful.<\/p>\n

David Ornstein, speaking on the latest episode of The Athletic FC Podcast, said things are going in the right direction for Liverpool and Florian Wirtz<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As things stand, Liverpool and Leverkusen are discussing the make-up of the deal, such as add-ons and bonuses.<\/p>\n

Ornstein is also optimistic that the deal will get over the line as he corroborated that Liverpool would likely be breaking the British transfer record.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere things are now is that this is progressing in the right direction,\u201d began Ornstein. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe talks are ongoing, I think they\u2019re now onto the stage of potential add-ons, the make-up of the deal, the bonuses and how they would be achieved.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, it\u2019s clearly at an advanced stage, but from what I hear it\u2019s not quite at the finish line yet. There is more work to be done.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

But for Liverpool and their supporters, there\u2019s reason to be optimistic. I do think they\u2019re going to get this deal done. <\/p>\n

\u201cNot only because they\u2019re pushing so hard in the club-to-club negotiations but also the desire of the player. He has eyes only for Liverpool.<\/p>\n

Ornstein concluded: \u201cI do feel we\u2019re getting towards a conclusion, and every indication is that Florian Wirtz is going to become a Liverpool player.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition, Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez is interested in joining Liverpool<\/a> this summer.<\/p>\n

Steven Gerrard<\/a> is one of Liverpool\u2019s greatest players of all time, and he certainly knows a great deal about playing in midfield.<\/p>\n

Gerrard recently shared his verdict on Wirtz<\/a> after being asked if there are any players he\u2019d like to see join Liverpool this summer.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, there\u2019s rumours, obviously, of Florian Wirtz,\u201d Gerrard said on TNT Sports.<\/p>\n

\u201cA big talent. Done fantastic for Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen, there\u2019s talk that there is going to be a really big signing. <\/p>\n

\u201cA huge talent, huge future in front of him. So Liverpool\u2019s the place for him, let\u2019s hope we can make it happen.\u201d<\/p>\n
