The officer in charge of the Majok Yinh Thiou Municipality Primary Health Care Unit in Northern Bahr-el-Ghazal State, Angelo Akot Garang, has reported an urgent need for lifesaving and essential drugs, citing rising cases of malaria, diarrhea, severe respiratory infections, and injuries among other ailments.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have only oral drugs, and we do not have injectable quantities because we lack the essential items at the Majok Yinh Thiou Primary Health Care Unit (PCHU), but sometimes the oral medicines cannot be used for severe cases,\u201d said Akot.<\/p>\n
The health official has also confirmed that the facility receives most clients affected by malaria, severe respiratory infections, and injuries caused by accidents and other reasons.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe cases we record daily are malaria, severe respiratory infections, and injuries caused by accidents,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
On his part, the Mayor of Majok Yinh Thiou Municipality, Andrea Akok Lual, stated that there are numerous demands in the area, including the provision of food and medicines to support the returnees, refugees, and the host community.<\/p>\n
\u00a0\u201cThe refugees and returnees are coming in large numbers, and we want the organizations to respond, but there are no partners to provide amid the influx of people who flee the war from Sudan, plus host communities,\u201d he said. \u201cWe need more medicines because the small quantities we have in the Majok Yinh Thiou Primary Health Care Unit (PHCU) are not enough for people in need.\u201d<\/p>\n
He called for the immediate delivery of medicines.<\/p>\n
