Buckingham Palace announced the monarch’s diagnosis, but withheld what form of cancer he’s battling. However, the illness hasn’t stopped the monarch from fulfilling his royal duties. Despite undergoing chemotherapy, he has made state visits to Australia, Italy, and, more recently, to Canada, with a packed itinerary. Reflecting on the same, a royal insider has come forward and claimed that the King is ‘driven’ by his work and is ‘managing’ his health well.

Article continues below advertisement

Charles has rarely shared updates on his treatment, but has been relentless in his efforts to uplift charities working for the welfare of cancer patients. According to Hello! magazine, a royal aide, however, recently threw light on the King’s ongoing battle and revealed he’s living life ‘as normal as possible.’ The insider said, “The thing you learn about this illness [cancer] is that you just manage it. And that’s what he does. Medical science has made incredible advances, and I genuinely see no difference in him.” The royal aide added, “As long as you just do what the doctors say… just live your life as normal as possible, and that’s exactly what he is doing.”

Article continues below advertisement

The source confirmed that the King is ‘incredibly fit’ despite the illness. They explained, “It’s no secret that he is still having treatment, but because he is incredibly fit, he is just dealing with it all incredibly well. As everybody knows, he is driven by duty, so he just gets on with it.” Following his recent Canada visit, the King and Queen Camilla took a break from their public duties for the rest of the week.

Article continues below advertisement

Charles’s royal summer calendar going forward is also going to be a busy one with big events lined up, such as Trooping the Color to mark his birthday, Royal Ascot, Garter Day at Windsor Castle, and a state visit from the President of France, Emmanuel Macron. He recently also attended VE Day celebrations and hosted a garden party.

Article continues below advertisement

According to The Telegraph, at the garden party, Charles was reportedly overheard advising a student battling cancer on how a good diet really helps with treatment. The student revealed, “He was asking me about the treatment I started in June, and spoke to me about food and diet. He also asked me if I had undergone radiation treatment, which I had earlier this year.” Charles was heard saying, “It’s sometimes about the diet and what you eat. It can help.” Besides Charles, his daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton, was also diagnosed with cancer.
