{"id":158429,"date":"2025-06-04T20:44:11","date_gmt":"2025-06-04T20:44:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/158429\/"},"modified":"2025-06-04T20:44:11","modified_gmt":"2025-06-04T20:44:11","slug":"king-marks-400-years-of-the-queens-chapel-at-service-with-royal-fanfare-the-irish-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/158429\/","title":{"rendered":"King marks 400 years of the Queen\u2019s Chapel at service with royal fanfare \u2013 The Irish News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The King has marked the 400th anniversary of the Queen\u2019s Chapel with a royal service.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Horns rang out as His Majesty entered the chapel, a stone\u2019s throw from Buckingham Palace, on Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"The King meeting choristers after a service celebrating 400 years of The Queen&#x2019;s Chapel\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/QV3DJXLYBNPVZBTXAZEN4R5SZ4.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"532\"\/>The King meeting choristers after a service celebrating 400 years of The Queen\u2019s Chapel (Aaron Chown\/PA) <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">He took his seat beside Princess Alexandra for the 40-minute service \u2013 attended by around 200 people.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">It featured music by the Gentlemen and Children of His Majesty\u2019s Chapel Royal Choir, accompanied by the Duchess of Edinburgh\u2019s String Orchestra and the State Trumpeters of the Household Cavalry Band.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/news\/uk\/singer-jessie-j-reveals-she-has-been-diagnosed-with-early-breast-cancer-HF4AGJQ5A5OMNHG2DLBNPKYW3Y\/\" aria-hidden=\"true\" tabindex=\"-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Singer Jessie J reveals she has been diagnosed with &#x2018;early breast cancer&#x2019;\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/TYXNTRYSMNOVDHNVWCQNAPU7IA.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The service reflected the chapel\u2019s early role as a place of worship for European courtiers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">After the celebration, the King viewed a newly commissioned piece of altar plate \u2013 the His Majesty King Charles III Ciboria \u2013 the first addition to the chapel\u2019s silverware since 1688.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Made by St Ives silversmith Tim Lukes, the ceremonial cup includes the image of the Green Man, a symbol used during the King\u2019s Coronation.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Charles views the new &#x2018;His Majesty King Charles III Ciboria&#x2019;, the first new piece of Chapel plate since 1688\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/2ZJ4E45O2ZNUNFNEQ6GSPUDHRU.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"533\"\/>Charles views the new \u2018His Majesty King Charles III Ciboria\u2019, the first new piece of Chapel plate since 1688 (Aaron Chown\/PA) <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Outside huge crowds gathered to catch a glimpse of the King whilst police held up traffic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Later, inside Friary Court, His Majesty shared a laugh with children from the Chapel Royal Choir.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">He could be heard asking the youngsters: \u201cYou\u2019ve been practicing already, have you?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Built in 1625, the Queen\u2019s Chapel was originally intended for the wedding of the future Charles I to Spanish princess Maria Anna.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">It was later restored by Christopher Wren and has been part of the Chapel Royal since 1938.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The King has marked the 400th anniversary of the Queen\u2019s Chapel with a royal service.
