Miles Kane will play the last ever gig at legendary Sheffield venue The Leadmill this month.<\/p>\n

Last month, the beloved venue\u2019s owners announced that they will have to leave its premises within three months<\/a> after losing their battle against eviction.<\/p>\n The grassroots venue said it had lost its long-running battle against its landlord Electric Group and will now have to vacate, in what has been branded a \u201cheartbreaking moment not just for our team but for the entire Sheffield community.\u201d<\/p>\n It has now been confirmed that the venue will close on June 27 with a gig from Miles Kane. The hometown singer said: \u201cThe Leadmill takes its final bow, and I\u2019m honoured to play it out.<\/p>\n \u201cCome and join me and the band on June 27 for the last gig at The Leadmill\u2026 and the start of a new chapter for yours truly.\u201d<\/p>\n High-profile backers of the fight to save the space included some of the bands who played formative gigs there at early stages of their career. Pulp\u2019s Jarvis Cocker had given it his backing, while\u00a0Liam Gallagher\u00a0<\/a>\u2013 who played at the venue with Oasis in 1994 \u2013 branded the closure \u201cscandalous\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019ve fought tirelessly to protect this independent venue which has supported countless artists, musicians and creatives for over four decades,\u201d a statement from The Leadmill said, adding that \u201ctoday\u2019s decision feels like a betrayal of the cultural fabric of our city.\u201d<\/p>\n They went on to say that though they are \u201ctruly devastated by this outcome\u201d, they \u201calso know hand on heart that we did everything possible to stop the Leadmill being evicted. We have poured our energy, time, love and determination into this fight and we\u2019re immensely proud of our team and the community that stood by us.\u201d<\/p>\n
