\n\tThings are looking up for One of Them Days<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\n\tA sequel is in early development for the original comedy movie<\/a> that Sony Pictures<\/a> released earlier this year. Stars Keke Palmer<\/a> and SZA<\/a> are expected to return, as is the film\u2019s creative team. <\/p>\n

\n\tLawrence Lamont helmed the TriStar Pictures<\/a> feature from a script by Syreeta Singleton. It hit theaters in January and surpassed $50 million at the global box office.<\/p>\n

\n\tLil Rel Howery, Janelle James, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Maude Apatow, Katt Williams, Joshua Neal, Aziza Scott, Patrick Cage and Amin Joseph also starred in the first film.<\/p>\n

\n\tOne of Them Days\u00a0centers on best friends and roommates Dreux (Palmer) and Alyssa (SZA),\u00a0who learn that Alyssa\u2019s boyfriend has squandered their rent money. The pals must scramble to avoid eviction in a race against the clock, while also striving to keep their friendship intact.<\/p>\n

\n\tProducers included Issa Rae and Sara Diya Rastogi for Hoorae, Deniese Davis for ColorCreative, Charles D. King for Macro Film Studios, James Lopez and Poppy Hanks. One of Them Days was developed as part of Sony\u2019s CoCre lab, which was a previous collaboration between the studio and ColorCreative to support ascending, diverse screenwriters in developing original feature ideas.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn her review of One of Them Days<\/a> for THR, critic Lovia Gyarkye wrote that the film \u201cis the kind of big-laughs, mid-budget theatrical comedy that used to be more common.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPalmer previously hosted a\u00a02022 episode of\u00a0Saturday Night Live<\/a>\u00a0that featured SZA as musical guest.<\/p>\n

\n\tSZA was new to acting and coming off the success of her Grammy-nominated album\u00a0Saturn. Palmer is known for films including\u00a0Nope\u00a0and\u00a0Hustlers, and she can soon be seen in the\u00a0heist comedy\u00a0The Pickup<\/a>\u00a0opposite Eddie Murphy, and the Aziz Ansari-directed\u00a0Good Fortune<\/a>\u00a0that also stars Seth Rogen and Keanu Reeves.<\/p>\n
