Prince William, 42, has shown no interest in extending an olive branch, while <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/person\/queen-camilla\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Queen Camilla<\/a> \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/royals\/prince-harry-called-queen-camilla-dangerous-image-rehabilitate-book-spare\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sharply criticized in Spare <\/a>\u2014 &#8220;stays out of it,&#8221; says a source.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_32-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Even senior aides including Clive Alderton, who was also named in Harry\u2019s memoir, are unlikely to encourage outreach.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_34-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> &#8220;There is not a good angel in his ear to say, \u2018Be a good dad and make the first move,&#8217; &#8221; says Valentine Low, author of the upcoming book <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/Power-Palace-Inside-Monarchy-Downing-ebook\/dp\/B0DKNQMX39\" class=\"pseudoStyle\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Power and the Palace<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Despite Harry\u2019s plea for peace, his BBC comments were widely seen as another blow. &#8220;It wasn\u2019t meant to be an attack, but it would be seen as one,&#8221; says Low. &#8220;It makes Charles reaching out even harder.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_38-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> The King&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/king-charles-health-update-following-hospitalization-cancer-treatment-11744290\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">weekly cancer treatments<\/a> add further urgency to the idea of healing the relationship before it&#8217;s too late.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_40-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> &#8220;It\u2019s been difficult for him to even get proper updates about his dad,&#8221; the source says, underscoring just how deep the divide has become.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_42-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> &#8220;If you have that level of breach in a family, and you are estranged, you run that risk every day of having something unfathomable to deal with,&#8221; says Catherine Mayer, author of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Charles-Heart-King-Catherine-Mayer\/dp\/075355593X\" data-component=\"amazon\" data-source=\"affiliate\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Charles: The Heart of a King<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_44-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Even before recent events, Charles and Harry\u2019s bond was complicated.
