{"id":160702,"date":"2025-06-05T16:49:09","date_gmt":"2025-06-05T16:49:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/160702\/"},"modified":"2025-06-05T16:49:09","modified_gmt":"2025-06-05T16:49:09","slug":"fitness-club-resort-leases-san-jose-site-at-prime-spot-in-santana-row","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/160702\/","title":{"rendered":"Fitness club resort leases San Jose site at prime spot in Santana Row"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN JOSE \u2014 A company that describes itself as an \u201cathletic country club\u201d has signed a lease for a prime spot at the Santana Row neighborhood in San Jose, saying it hopes for more Bay Area spots.<\/p>\n<p>Life Time plans to open a fitness- and health-oriented country club at the destination Santana Row mixed-use restaurant, shop, housing, hotel, office, and entertainment destination center in west San Jose.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSantana Row is a great location,\u201d said Meghan Akradi, a vice president of real estate with Life Time. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to do better than Santana Row in terms of iconic properties.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Life Time has leased a building within Santana Row at the southeast corner of Stevens Creek Boulevard and South Winchester Boulevard, according to documents filed on May 28 with the Santa Clara County Recorder\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mercurynews.com\/2018\/05\/17\/best-buy-santana-row-store-being-hawked-as-san-jose-offices-amazon-google-facebook-apple\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">building that Life Time leased<\/a> totals 60,000 square feet and is currently occupied by a Best Buy consumer electronics store at 3090 Stevens Creek Boulevard. The building is two stories, according to the Property Shark commercial real estate database.<\/p>\n<p>The initial term of the lease is 15 years, the Santa Clara County property documents show.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a market where we\u2019ve wanted to be for many years,\u201d Akradi said.<\/p>\n<p>The only <a href=\"https:\/\/news.lifetime.life\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bay Area location for Life Time<\/a> at present is in downtown Walnut Creek at 1315 Broadway Plaza.<\/p>\n<p>The future San Jose location is expected to feature an array of amenities, according to Life Time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will have great fitness areas, fitness studios, personal training sites, yoga, pilates, cafe, work lounges, a sauna, and hot tubs,\u201d Akradi said. \u201cWe will have a kids\u2019 academy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota-based Life Time takes a different approach to fitness than is the case with typical health clubs in the United States, according to company executives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMembers are calling us a country club without the golf,\u201d said Natalie Bushaw, a spokesperson for Life Time.<\/p>\n<p>In March of this year, Fast Company placed Life Time at No. 23 on its list of the 50 most innovative companies of 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt goes much further than a typical gym,\u201d Bushaw said. \u201cLife Time takes a holistic approach to health, wellness, recovery and fitness. People can literally spend all day at Life Time, and they do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Life Time operates at least 175 athletic country clubs that have an average size of 100,000 square feet, according to the company\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s like a Four Seasons resort every time you walk into one of our country clubs,\u201d Akradi said.<\/p>\n<p>The company has 1.4 million members and 41,000 employees. Life Time also has at least 150 kids\u2019 academy locations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hope to open our San Jose location during the first half of 2027,\u201d Akradi said. \u201cIt depends on how quickly we can get permits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The coronavirus outbreak unleashed an array of shifts in how people view their personal health.
