Bayern Munich<\/a> and Germany midfielder Leon Goretzka does not think that that his squad did itself any favors against Portugal as time was ticking away on the team\u2019s chances to make the UEFA Nations League final per ZDF (via kicker<\/a>): <\/p>\n

Even after Cristiano Ronaldo made it 2-1, the German national team didn\u2019t produce much apart from a shot that hit the post. Leon Goretzka criticized their own \u201cgame management\u201d in the final phase. Portugal showed more experience here, running down the clock. \u201cWe had scuffles that didn\u2019t help us at all in that moment,\u201d Goretzka said, annoyed by their own performance.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Despite patches of solid play, Germany had trouble with Portugal from start-to-finish and lost momentum after head coach Julian Nagelsmann\u2019s substitutions and ultimately could not hold off a determined Portugal side. <\/p>\n
