Mikey Madison<\/a> fans rejoice: the star is set to take another lead movie role following her Oscar-winning performance in Anora<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Madison is in talks to feature in The Masque of the Red Death, a reimagining of Edgar Allan Poe’s creepy story of the same name (via The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>). Euphoria’s Sydney Sweeney was previously attached<\/a> to the project, but exited due to scheduling conflicts.<\/p>\n

The film is directed by Charlie Polinger for A24 and has been hailed as a “wildly revisionist” take on Poe’s 1842 short story. The movie will feature Madison in the dual role of twins.

The original version follows Prince Prospero, who seeks refuge in his abbey during a plague outbreak. To pass the time, the prince hosts a lavish masquerade ball for the wealthy elites, with the party spreading across seven rooms, each decorated in a different colour.<\/p>\n

Madison is reportedly playing a noblewoman and her long-lost twin sister who lives as a commoner and infiltrates the ball with deadly consequences.<\/p>\n

Not much else is known on The Masque of the Red Death at this stage. Additional casting details will be shared ahead of filming, expected to start later this year or in early 2026.<\/p>\n

Madison will also star in horror Reptilia alongside Kirsten Dunst<\/a>, first announced in May this year. <\/p>\n

The movie from co-writer and director Alejandro Landes Echavarr\u00eda (Monos) tells the story of a dental hygienist who’s lured by a mysterious mermaid into the underworld of Florida’s exotic animal trade.<\/p>\n
